Flying along using my indispensable trackir 5 it freezes on me when looking down (like on the keybord or a map).
My wiev are outside the plane frozen. It is still connected as I can see from the two green lights and brining up the trackir software I can see the 3 red dots from the clip moving in the camera wiev but the display of the orb guidelines are totally black.
Tried disconnecting the USB plug…doesn’t work. Recenter key…doesn’t work.
If I close the trackir app then it is not recognised when I open it again ( think this is normal behaviour).
So the only thing to do is close MFS and restart trackir and restart MFS. Very annoying.
Am I the only one with this issue. Made a post on the trackir forum a month ago, but no reply at all there.
Is there a way to “reset” the trackir software without shutting it down,?
And yes I have also tried the new trackir on off switch under camera.

I’m using tracking 5 for a couple of times with no problems.
During configuration in trackir you have to assign joystick button or keyboard key to pause and reinit.
When thats done, if your display freeze, try to press the keyboard key relative to reinit and that’s it …
Another button is plenty usefull, the pause button witch give ability to desactive trackir during a knob rotation or a small button in your cocpit so cool…
At the end, don’t forget to save your profile for the specified game in the list.

It is more tricky than this. It is the whole internal workings of the trackir software that lock down/freezes.
I can press the pause key all I want, but the inner link, in the trackir software between the camera ( that still shows two green lights and is shown working in the trackir interphase ) and the head movement in the trackir that gets passed on to the sim. Thought originally that it was a MFS bug but now I think it is in the trackir software this happens.
You could ask why I post here. Well it is out of desperation because since a month nothing in the trackir forums…nothing. Guess not many comes there including Natural point guys.
Have been using trackir for 10+ years, without problems apart from the usual, stray light upsetting the sensors.
Try not to look down to much but you forget and bam there goes that flight.
it is strange. But before Santa Claus calling, i think i’ll try to stop my antivirus software install the last tracking software and restart the antivirus it look like a broken file or a firmware malfunction…

However I dont use antivirus software (apart from what came with Windows), never had on my gaming PC the last 10 years. Always shut it down when I leave it. Dont use it for surfing only the occasional download from MFS.
Have the latest version 5.4.2 and did a reinstall.
Could ofcause be some sort of hardware glitch which I do not hope.
Not yet (1 month)heard of anyone having the same issue. Feeling quite alone.
You’re not on your own. I have also just had a similar issue. I have always used TrackIR with MSFS2020 and I’ve rarely encountered any problems. I was just doing a flight of about 1.5 hours and was head down in the cockpit using the FMC and when I tried to look up again I was unable to. I was able to switch between cockpit and external views but the internal views were restricted to heads down in the cockpit and I was unable to return to a view from inside the aircraft looking out the windshield. It wasn’t a TrackIR problem and it wasn’t an external light source problem etc. It was MSFS not receiving an input from TrackIR. It has happened to me before but only about 3 or 4 times since the launch of the sim and I have never been able to find anything to remedy the situation except for a restart of the sim. The other times that it has occurred were before the November update. Each time it has occurred it was whilst approaching or intercepting an approach to land when everything seemed to be working normally with perfectly adequate FPS. It has happened so infrequently that I have not been able to readily identify common or potential factors causing it but it is definitely frustrating when it does happen. As infrequent as it is, I’d be pretty happy if anyone was able to get to the bottom of it.
As the OP I have encountered this again but rarely.
One remedy have been to take out and reinsert the USB cable. I am playing DCS at the moment and it also occurs there. In DCS I can then play on
If it works in MSF I dont know.
