Trans alt

is there any way or site to find trans alt of an airport?

Easiest way is on the instrument approach charts. Could also dig through the countries AIP, which is sometimes hard to find. Here is a listing of some. But by far, the approach plate is the best place to look. Also, transition level is often broadcast on ATIS in many countries. So could also use one of the LiveATC sites if the airport is included.

Skyvector for the US I would say but anyway the ATC just ignores it ingame and transition alt is always set at 18000 fts…

.. in the US. Most likley 10’000 ft in Europe

Which would be also be wrong.

Well how about giving the correct answer?

IIRC, the Transition Altitude (TA) will provide at least 1000ft separation from the highest elevation within a certain region. Below this altitude, the altimeter setting is set to local QNH, so a pilot is aware of either his altitude above mean sea level (AMSL) (sometimes QFE, which is height above ground level (AGL)). Elevations on maps, minimum safe altitudes, … are always noted in AMSL.

The Transition Level (TRL) is the lowest usable level, depending on meteorological conditions, about the TA. Above this level, standard pressure (STD, 1013.25 hPa, or 29.92 InHg) is set, which references the standard datum.

Because you change QNH to STD when climbing through TA, and STD to QNH when descending through TRL, there is a Transition Layer (TL) where pilots are on different altimeter settings, which is why you should never ever use it for level flight.

That said, Europe has regional TAs. Belgium and The Netherlands are both rather small, so they use a single value for the entire country (4,500ft and 3,000ft IIRC). The UK, France, Italy, … however, have varying transition altitudes, in some places it’s 10,000ft or higher, or it can be as low as 2,000ft, depending on regional terrain elevations.

Some other places in the world use a single standard but “arbitrary” transition altitude throughout the entire country, without taking local terrain elevation into account. They just set it at an altitude that will clear you from terrain no matter where you go. For the US, which MSFS references, this standard is 18,000ft.

It should, most of France is 7000ft for example but in the sim its 18000ft everywhere, at least for me.
