Transition: From Game Pass for PC version to purchased (owned) editions

Since the game pass for PC app will go to 10 euros per month, I am thinking about buying the FS, so that I can own it. How do you make this transition without losing achievements and progress? If I upgrade to another edition via the Xbox app for PC, do I still need to pay the monthly subscription? How do I buy the FS without creating a brand new account on MS store?

I have wondered that myself as I, depending on how the feedback of this coming patch turns out, will likely buy the Standard version and cancel my Game Pass subscription.

Since I don’t know if content bought in Marketplace will be transferred to the bought edition, I’ve abstained from making any purchases.

I hope someone from MS can give an official answer that is accurate.

Buy it via the game pass app. MS have given an official answer somewhere you’ll just have to browse around for it.

But if I buy any version from the Xbox app for PC, there is no guarantee the upgraded edition will not require the monthly subscription service in order for the simulator to be playable. It is a rental thing, not a purchased product.

To make things even more complicated, there is no guide and also I discovered that because I have the game pass for PC enabled, I can buy the game at a discount from the Microsoft Store, not the Xbox Store. However there is no reference regarding my original question. If I buy any version and get the discount due to subscription, will the game be playable after the cancelation of the subscription?

i bought mine thru steam. concerned the updates may take longer but at least i have it for single player with joinfs lol…

Are you suggesting that multiplayer is not a thing for those who have the purchased versions instead of the subscription service?

There should be another section in the game pass app where you can buy the full version and not the upgrade.

no not at all… it all works great for early release… i was just joking about the worst case… if Microsoft drops the ball as they did with all the rest of m… hopefully they will be continually improving the sim for quite some time… just have to b patient

If you use gamepass you have to continue subscription to have base game to use addons (for as long as MS leaves the game available.) If you buy any version Your addons will still be available (in content manager). If you buy thru windows store or gamepass you’ll have an option to install on another drive at first.(actually you can do that anytime after purchase.) After a day or so what you buy will show up as owned in the marketplace. If you don’t reinstall, the extras for deluxe or premium will show up in content manager and you can just download individually from there and they’ll be installed.

And be aware that if you have the MS store version (I had the game pass version), and you buy it in Steam, none of your progress is migrated… even though it is connected to the same Microsoft account. Not that it really matters, but it was a bit sad to see I was back at 0 hours of flight time in my logbook.

I purchased a key on cdkeys. You just enter the key into one of Microsoft’s activation systems while logged into the account your msfs is linked to and it will happen seemlessly. Any additional aircraft and airports will just need to be downloaded on the msfs content manager.

i started with the alpha version then went to the game pass when they closed alpha/beta. like most of us i was confused about their upgrade pricing so i went to steam for the full package. i was gonna keep both until they decided to raise the game pass for pc price. also concerned they were trying to match the xbox gold price that is required to play xbox games online. which made me wonder if this sim will turn into a monthly subscription.

There is already this section in the Xbox app that links to the Microsoft Store.

Just below the “play game” button.

The Xbox store is different from the Microsoft Store. The Xbox store for Pc does not sell the game upgrades outside the game pass service. The discount is valid only if you have an active subscription. The MS store has my full name, instead of my FS username, so I don’t think these two distinct stores are totally compatible…

yea i made a new xbox accnt for my steam version using my tale number for flightsim. made it easier for the other guys to c me in game. that also isolates it from my family xbox account so its not locked out while im flying, which is most of the day… lol

I played via GamePass originally, then I bought the Premium Deluxe via CDKeys.

As above, just redeemed the code to my MS account, the deluxe/premium upgrades were then showing as owned in the in game store as owned and I could download them.

Despite my MS account showing Premium Deluxe as owned, I still needed to be logged into GamePass to play it.

I ended up installing it again from the MS store link.

Forgot to add that all profiles, controller configs, achievements all carried over.
