When I try translating forward and back in the cabin using Alt+Up and Alt+Down, the view goes both up and forward, and down and backward respectively. Is there a key binding I’m missing to make it go straight forward and back?
There is a bug in the sim concerning double-key presses such as this. When you press Alt and Up, it will generate two commands, corresponding to Up by itself, as well as in combination with Alt. So the two commands together give you what you see.
My solution was to set a single keystroke for the forward command in the controllers settings.
A similar problem occurs if you have ATC open and with focus, and then press Cntrl-2 to access the instruments. As well as moving the view (as intended), it also selects number 2 in the ATC menu, and (for example) throws you out of IFR mode.
Sloppy programming somewhere!
I have reported it on Zendesk, but no solution yet.
That makes sense, and explains similar issues I’ve seen. Like pressing Shift+C for the checklist, then finding out later that the drone camera has the plane controls enabled.
Thank you for the explanation. I will also put in a zendesk ticket to increase the visibility of the issue.
Thanks for that - it is certainly a flaw most people are not aware of, but will cause problems. I think I may start a new generic topic concerning shortcuts to raise the visibility further.
You can now vote to get this fixed:

I’m sure many users still have the sim behaving in odd ways due to this problem but don’t realise why, and it is such a basic error by Asobo it should really be fixed without needing a vote.
