I would like to make some of my own Tree’s there seem to only be a handful of trees available in the scenery editor and it seems the best looking one is a Almond tree… also im trying to find out if the Auto-gen trees are different then the trees in the scenery editor. I would like to extract the Almond tree model so i can study it and design build my own. I have looked and looked all day and it seems that most of the results are people talking about the size and density or the height of trees. Im looking for information to help me build one with blender … blender has a great free tree plugin but I need some information like what would be a good balanced poly count for a tree and how to handle the LOD’s. Just point me in the right direction… Thanks.
The vegetation (autogen) is very different from the tree models, as they use ‘octahedral imposters’. You can just search for that term in the SDK documentation for details.
The library tree models, including Almond, are located in fs-base\scenery\Global\Asobo_Vegetation\Asobo_Vegetation.BGL.
Thanks for the info, I will go and try to wrap my head around this now. That is a very interesting solution. Thank you so much!
