Jorg Neumann at the FlightSimExpo discussion of MSFS 2024 mentioned that the large trees issue will be fixed globally in the 2024 release, FWIW. Not clear what changes if any will happen with 2020.

Enhanced tree diversity: You’ve seen it in the trailer if you paid a little bit of attention: There’s 3D trees. There’s gonna be lots and lots of different 3D trees. Gone are the days where our trees are too tall, or they’re all the wrong trees, like some pine trees somewhere on some island in the Pacific, doesn’t quite work. So that’s all gonna be better.
