Trial period for items in Marketplace

Two words… Abuse/Exploitation

Currently I’m trying to ignore the marketplace as much as possible because there’s no money back and no trial, and reviews are very limited. Only if a plane or scenery seems very good I might get it off the marketplace. But in most cases I still prefer getting it directly from the developer if possible. Also because the marketplace is much slower in providing updates.

OK well if it would be too difficult to have time limited trial or whatever it comes back to having a refund. Easy enough if someone buys something and complains - Asobo just check the complaint and if its reasonable/they can agree its substandard, then refund and if bad enough remove from market until unless improved.
we get more protection buying a cheap sponge from fleabay/PayPal.

which is why it all needs to be server end linked to time and payment record.

I am sure that a company like MS can deal with abuse. I have had my prefessional run-ins with their compliance departments and trust me, they will deal with abuse.
Dont quite understand the ‘exploitation’ comment.
You need to unpack that a bit I think.

No doubt MS/Asobo have robust compliance departments and resources to address such issues. In the context of offering time-limited trials, when I mention “abuse/exploitation” I’m referring to users intentionally attempting to maximize their use of resources or benefits within the trial system, by manipulating the limitations.

This would be a very good feature.

Recently, I’ve had a bad experience with a plane I’ve bought in the marketplace.

That was after I had watched many reviews before buying, but the problem I had with the plane wasn’t shown by any video, and I didn’t even expect it happen.

A “test fly” option would be fantastic.

Probably with planes is not so simple, but with airports you could load the content in a sandbox allowing a potential buyer to drone-explore it and have a 360º look at it, even changing daytime to see ilumination and so on

While this is true it also has some drawbacks. Some of the money collected from the marketplace sales surely goes towards further development of the sim.

I can’t see this happening… but anything is possible.

Looks like they listened for 2024. Near the end of this presentation they mention the ability to rent marketplace aircraft (not sure if it’ll also apply to other items). The prices would be set by the developers for rental, and could even be free rentals if they wanted.
