Trouble setting default device

I am on a Xbox x and am having problems with FS seeing my joystick, a Velocity Flightstick made by Turtle Beach. I am in the middle of the basic flight tutorials and it keeps seeing my Xbox controller as the device I am using. I want it to see the Flightstick as my default control device so I can learn the buttons. I end up using my mouse or controller as the device to move around. Anywhere I can set the flightstick as my main device?

Issues can arise if two peripherals have profiles that both have flight control assignments.

Make sure that your Turtle Beach peripheral is the only device that has flight surface (ailerons, elevator, rudder, flaps, etc.) key bindings.

You can still use the controller to control things like the camera and other switches and controls around the cockpit, but be sure it isn’t able to control flight surfaces. You’ll need to define a new controller profile for this purpose.

Start with that and see if it fixes your issue.

Thanks for your reply. I did first use the Xbox controller first as the flying device before I got the flight stick. Do I need to unassign the xbox controller or rebind the flight stick with flight surfaces?

Yes.

You need to unbind the controllers flight surface controls — mainly the axis controls: thumbsticks & triggers. It’s fine if those continue to control the camera. Just unbind their functions controlling the aircraft’s flight surfaces.

Theoretically, your flight stick should load with a default profile that has the flight surfaces already bound, but if not be sure you set one up to your liking.
