Try These Tweaks for Performance

With my system: i7700k (Overclocked to 5.1Ghz on water) with 32Gb (Corsair) of Ram and 1080i (Oc’d on Water) card, all SSDs, settings on High End (default), 1Gbps fiber internet connection, 4k resolution - I was one that was getting horrible stutters every few seconds. It was bad enough to make the sim unflyable on any level. But I did piece together some tweaks to try from these forums and tried them yesterday.

I flew from KGVL to KBAK yesterday in the SR22 - so about 2 hours. Weather was a mix of overcast and broken and the flight was at 12,000, with mountainous terrain. I can say that performance was magnificent. It was the first flight where there was no stuttering at all and flight was fluid. I do think I saw a very brief pause or two as scenery loaded - but I’m not going to ding the sim because we get plenty of that in P3D too.

That said, I don’t know if the better performance was due to the tweaks or if Asobo made a change. I did also notice a few things were changed over the last day or two. But here are changes I’ve made on yesterday’s flight.

1 - Hypertreading ON
2 - Perspective to 80 from 100
3 - Vsync Off - no frame rate limiting
4 - NO rolling Cache

So if you’re having performance issues, I HIGHLY recommend you at least try the changes above. If they don’t work for you, or you have issues, you can turn them back.

A world of CAUTION: if you have an overclock on your CPU and you turn on hyperthreading - you MUST have a liquid cooled system or you’ll get CTDs due to the increased heat! I have a stable overclock at 5.1ghz with HT on but it was trial and error to get it stable.

Happy flying!
