Turning the pitot heat off shuts down the engine

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

At the end of the flight when flipping the pitot heat off using my controller, this automatically flips magnetos to off and pulls the mixture on C152. I have tested this on A2A Comanche as well and the same thing happens there. I have checked that the button assigned to “Set Pitot Heat” is not assigned to anything else by searching for the button assignment in the controls section (“search by input”).

If applicable, which aircraft is experiencing this issue: Every piston aircraft I have tested it on (A2A Comanche and in built C152, have not tried others).

[PC Only] Did you remove all your community mods/add-ons? If yes, are you still experiencing the issue?

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

  1. On the ground or in the air with engine running, make sure pitot heat is on
  2. Switch off the pitot heat
  3. Observe that mixture is now lean, magnetos are off, fuel selector is set to off

@DementedCorn327 Do you use the Bravo Throttle Quadrant, and did you assign a button on it to “Set Pitot Heat”? It may also work with other devices if you assign “Set Pitot Heat” to something.

No I don´t have that controller. I’ll bind the pitot heat to 1 of my joystick button (Extreme 3D Pro) and let you know the result. I did the test using the mouse pointer to turn on/off the pitot heat.

Have you checked that tour Bravo switch is not binded with other commands ?

Yes I checked that. I searched for the input in the controls section and it could only find “Set Pitot Heat” assigned to the button.

Did you happen to test this? Would be good to know I’m not the only one experiencing this (though by the looks of the votes there do seem to be a few others).

Yes I tested it, assigning the function to one of my joystick button:

Toggle:

Set:

But cannot reproduce.

OK, thanks for reporting back.

Maybe it’s important that my button can have on/off position?

If you use a controller with an on/off position then you need to bind with the 2 1st options, “pitot heat off” and “pitot heat on”. How do you have your binding configured ?

I have it configured as “Set Pitot Heat”. Will try to bind it to “pitot heat on” and “pitot heat off” and see if that improves things.

A bit of a delay but I finally managed to run the sim for a bit today. I have the same issue whether it’s on “pitot heat on”/“pitot heat off” setting or “set pitot heat”. It flips the magnetos to off position when I flip the pitot heat button. I searched for “magneto” in the controls for Bravo Throttle Quadrant and I have nothing bound for any of the settings that came up for magnetos.

Moved to User Support Hub since no other users have reported that issue.

Hopefully someone with a Bravo Throttle could help to determine what could be possibly wrong with your setup.

On the Controls Assignment screen have you tried Search by Input and pressing the button you’ve assigned to Pitot Heat? It should list all control assignments for that button.

I have discovered the issue. Basically when the button is a toggle (on/off) it is considered as though it is two separate buttons by MSFS, one for off and one for on. I previously searched for the on position for pitot heat but not for the off position. When searching for the “off” position, I found that the button was registered for “engine autostop”. Removing that restored the functionality. Thanks for the help @CD0139 your post prompted me to go and search for this again.
