I’m so upset this is not coming to Xbox
Microsoft charge manufacturers a (per unit sold?) license fee for Xbox accessories.
No such license or fee exists for PC peripherals and so it’s less of a cost risk to manufacturers in what is a very niche segment of the gaming market.
The clockwork radio was also a niche market and look how well that guy did ![]()
What percentage of games on the Xbox are flight sims?
As much as I love flight sims it’s a niche within a niche.
what percentage of PC games are flight sims? bit of a daft question as its irrelevant.
There are xbox games apart from FS2020/24 that would benefit from a good HOTAS, therefore potential market expansion. its a bit elitist to assume PC is the only format that counts, especially as XBOX counts for 70% of NEW FS2020 customers. A NICHE worth tapping into for sure before someone beats them to it and they loose the revenue oppertunity
No. It’s not elitist to point out that Flight and Space simulation games are a niche genre across all platforms. (Including PC and all consoles)
It’s also not elitist to point out that there are only about 4 titles for Xbox which even support flight stick type controllers. (and I don’t think any of them exclusively require a flight stick to play)
It’s really not that big a market.
That said, given that Turtle Beach already have flight products licensed to the Xbox platform it seems reasonable that this will also and that if there are any differences in their actual launch dates/availability on different platforms it’s simply due to the extra complication surrounding the Microsoft licensing. (Adding the extra chip required for Xbox & MS tightened their unauthorized third-party accessory control policy in November 2023)
Videos starting to drop as people receive their units
“how many buttons would you like?”
“yeah”
Xbox surely supports a lot of buttons and axis. I use the TB flightstick, yoke, and pedals simultaneously and all axis on all devices are supported at once, plus buttons, plus shift functions, plus the keyboard mouse and controller. But this flight deck requires it’s own software to customize ‘buttons’ so I doubt it will make it to console.
I imagine they could do a dumbed down version with a button console where the screen is similar to the throttle quad for a little less scratch.
What’d be really nice is a button box with knobs as a companion to any of their equipment that works on console
Got the Flight Deck, Gobsmacked to find there are NO presets, have spent 2 hours on setting up just the throttles, and not done yet. Will be great if I ever get the zillion gizmos setup. What a way to launch a $400 HOTAS…
Not really unheard of. Those of us that have gone with the nice VKB sticks and throttles go through the same process!
Any new to market stick, HOTAS, or yoke is a big, disappointed meh from me without force feedback.
