Well I posted some stuff on the Aerosoft forum, but I have a feeling they don’t seem to underdtand what I’m talking about regarding the pitch/crossfading thing. Instead they’re basically gaslighting everyone into believing that this is how it is supposed to sound. Matthijs did promise that he’ll be looking into the issues, but I have a feeling that their soundguy just isn’t up to the task/doesn’t get it.
I’ll be happy if I’m proven wrong…Let’s hope someone in the community can fix things, or maybe the TSS peeps can convert their sound set.
I´m not that sad about loudness, more the transitions between diffrent RPM and Stages of the Turbine. I mean, the sounds are well recorded, but the over all mix is totally bad. It´s easy to say, it´s just a opinion of diffrent costumers. Or how the dev in his forum told, that no one is right, because nobody ever sat between those 2 engines. That may right, but this plane could be so good for me (and other engine sound lovers) when, it´s done well. I did started today my first steps in WWISE , so I can do it bei myself with the sounds I ordered directly from TSS. At aerosoft, u feel like a ■■■■ as costumer, when you tell them things, they dont want to hear. U need to be a pilot with 1000 real Hours in that Plane, then they may listen. Anyway, 5/5 when one day the sounds working well and giving the right atmosphere.
Not here to tell any sound guy what to do, especially someone who Aerosoft obviously trust so well to hire in the first place. But coming from the music production world myself, fade-ins on every audio file using his DAW of choice could definitely help mend those “spiky” torque transitions.
Furthermore, i think the entire sound engine could benefit from something around -3 db.
I posted it too in german language. Hope this helps.
The thing is easy: No spooling sound and thus far away from what they already achieved in FSX Twin Otter extended. Regardless what any sound expert did. Spooling up/down is missing.
yeah the sound is pretty bad… lovely model though… did any of the youtubers mention the audio? Do liek an honest review of things and felt like we got caught short with this one.
I haven’t seen any that I follow today updated with the release version, but they commented on the beta build and it was mentioned as a “they’ll probably fix this for release.”
You are probably going to get the sound reduction that you want. Asobo did this across the board for all aircraft when they released SU5. Warbirds were exceptionally punished. The audio for the Corsair in particular.
You can easily turn down and adjust the ONE setting for engine audio.
Once they mute the engine audio, and they will, it is a LOT more inconvenient to have to turn down ALL the other audio settings and max the engine sounds. I have to do this every time I want to use the Milviz Corsair. Even by turning down all the other settings, I still can’t get back the audio magnificence of the R2800 that Milviz provided when they initially released the Corsair.
An addon’s audio is an extremely high priority for me at least. So much so, that I purchased the FlyingIron Spitfire immediately direct from them after they released their 1.1.0 update that included an audio correction for SU5 (I already owned the Marketplace version).
I will also purchase the Milviz Corsair directly from them if/when they also release an UPDATE that corrects the muted audio of SU5. [And I already own that aircraft from the Marketplace too]
Aside from the abrupt audio transitions, I like the audio of the Aerosoft Twin Otter. I find it easy to adjust the engine audio (again, I don’t want happened to the Milviz Corsair and FlyingIron Spitfire to happen to the Twin Otter)
Be careful what you ask for…in this case - you are going to get it.
I am hearing a sound in the cockpit of the Ski Cargo variant that is related to the skis being in the down position. I assume this to be the sound of the skis moving over the ground except that it does not stop when the aircraft stops moving. How is something so obvious overlooked? You can be parked cold and dark. Lower the skis and on comes the racket!. Really! I have submitted a ticket on this issue to Aerosoft.
The detail in the animation of the skis and wheels as seen in exterior views is excellent but the skis make absolutely no sound there.
Full Time means you are most likely paid in some fashion for content creation.
The reason I stopped believing any influencers on YouTube.
I actually block any recommended YouTube stuff from influencers.
Totally agree that engine sounds has some issues as is. Aerosoft know about this and is looking into the issues. See this thread:
Beeing an experienced/serious simmer since the good old FS95 days, sound quality/realism has become more important for my immersion as the years have passed. Back in the “old” days, a good hardware sound setup was not a common item to own for a general computer user. Now we have high fidelity sound systems, and the importance of sound quality/realism is more relevant now than ever!.
Unfortunately the sound quality seems to be an area where many developers fail to deliver. Looking back in time, I can count on one hand rgd payware aircrafts that has realistic high quality sounds (of the aircrafts I have invested in). Fresh in memory is the chills I got when taking off for the first time with the Majestic Dash 8 Q300 for FSX… Sadly the time between such “chills” are increasing.
From the aircrafts i have invested in today, not many have sounds that reflects the real thing. I sincerely hope this is a trend that is about to change, as the immersion is completely destroyed from poorly rendered sounds.
