OH! You lot at Microsoft. You have discriminated against North and South in the UK.
The London landmarks ok great.
The south coast, the Tower in Portsmouth, the city of Southampton lovely.
But Manchester Looks terrible.
Where are the Cathedrals in Liverpool, and Sacrilege no Blackpool Tower.
Once again the UK gets North South Divide.
Or am I missing something.
The Graphics settings are all set to Ultra, and the internet is set to get everything. The connection is 550 MB tested with the Speed test Network app.
Any help would be nice.
P.s. My Town looks great including my street and my back garden, even see my garage and weather Station Shed.

Youāre correct. No Tower, no piers at Blackpool. Even mentioned during beta, to no avail.
I had a look on Bing maps at a few places and birdās eye is implemented for Leeds, Manchester and Blackpool, so if you have photogrammetry switched on it should be no worse than elsewhere with birdās eye data available (I canāt check - internet too slow until I get fibre installed (soon!))
Landmarks like cathedrals or Blackpool Tower are a bigger issue as they have to be hand-modelled. This has been common in city builders since the time of Sim City 4 - generic buildings can only take you so far. MSFS has photogrammetry to get closer to reality, but with big limitations on how close you can get to the buildings before they start to look bad. Unique, iconic buildings will always need to be hand-built to be convincing. In the city builder world there has always been a thriving community creating buildings from all over the world. Maybe someone needs to create a City Skylines to MSFS object converter to open up a vast selection of buildings.
But back to MS/Asobo, seeing what has just happened with Japan and the fact that the UK is an obvious high profile country as far as a place for people to visit is concerned (as well as having a large local user base), I am expecting that the UK will be on the list for a āworld updateā once some more neglected areas of the world (Asia, South America, Africa) have been given some attention.
Forgive the silly question, where do you control that?
Thanks!
Havenāt got the game open at the moment, but itās under General \ Data - thereās one switch for Bing streaming data and then if that is enabled you can also enable/disable photogrammetry.
Always worth checking as connection issues can lead to it getting turned off.
Exactly why I was asking.
I had a connection error once, and terrain has looked terrible since then.
Iāll have a look. Thanks!
Photogrammetry in the sim is only available for Southampton and Portsmouth in the UK, hence others have been importing landmarks using google maps photogrammetry.
Looks like Iāve misinterpreted how photogrammetry works, then. I thought that it was automatic for locations with Bing birdās eye. Looks like thereās an intermediate step needed to make the imagery suitable for photogrammetry.
Sorry for misleading.
Still, I guess it means that the cities Iāve mentioned have a chance of being made available with photogrammetry in the future.
Itās cool man, I donāt think you owe anyone an apology.
Where there isnāt photogrammetry, this is where the ML model comes into to play. It interprets the satellite imagery and overlays the 3D buildings etc.
This is my understanding of how it works anyways.
Really? Thatās your conclusion?

Yes you can turn on/off photogrammetry in the options tab under general / Data.
My other hate is trying to tweek the sensitivity. i am sure all this will get fixed.

Mr Grumpy Always moaning.
Narrrr not really just needed to generate a discussion about scenery.
The great thing about these Forums is you learn new things.
I did not no that the individual buildings like The Millennium Dome and Spinnaker Tower had to be individually modelled.
But they have modelled The Glenfinnan Viaduct in Scotland. That for those who do not know is the Harry Potter one, where the flying car flies over it in the second film.
I am grateful for all the responses THANKS.

I think that ānorth south divideā comment was more tongue in cheek than anything else. Not even sure that MS or Asobo are even conscious of our internal English daily gripe.

True but it gets the discussion going.

And just to add to the north/ south divide can we all agree itās a bap and not a barn or a cob

Very good I have a video of flying over my house then over the spinnaker tower round the dockyard and back.
Has anyone else noticed the tree growing out of the ship in Portsmouth harbour? I know the Royal Navy is Old but that is ridiculous!
Iāve not noticed that in Pompey, however in Southampton docks I have noticed trees growing out of the decks of the vessels
Still no Barra airstrip which I posted during Alpha.

I have just flown around Egypt! Pyramids are amazing the quality is outstanding.
Itās grim up Northā¦
⦠but when did the UK mean England only? Scotland is looking beautiful, as is Wales. Maybe this means Microsoft hates England as much as itās neighbours.
