Unable to add coordinates as a waypoint in EFB (MSFS 2024)

In using the EFB in MSFS 2024 to plan a DropZone mission in Neofly, but I am unable to add the coordinates as a waypoint. I have input the origination and destination airport as well as all other aspects of the flight. I select the ‘Coordinates’ drop-down as ‘Type’ for adding a waypoint in the EFB, enter the coordinates (39.94 and North, 77.25 and West) and select the ‘Add’ button and nothing gets added to the waypoint list. I have tried without the decimals and converted them to other formats and followed the reasonable guidance found online but it does not work. Restarted the MSFS 2024 app and still cannot add.

Of note, if I use the mouse on the map next to the route planning and right click, I can add the point under the mouse as a waypoint (coordinates). However, there is no reference as to where my mouse pointer is on the map to select the coordinates I want (have to guess). In trying to click and drag to move the new waypoint to where I need it, it does not respond (not able to click or drag).

I know that I could use good old VFR manual flight mapping with VOR radials, intersections and time calculations, but it is 2024 and the EFB is meant to help take us out of the 1930s and technically a ‘tool’ that should be at our disposal and utilized (per instructor) to increase flight safety and reduce extra workload on the pilot. I also am aware that I could ‘edit the system’ and step up to a glass cockpit plane and probably get the G1000 to do it, but I am trying to use the aircraft given (C152).

Thanks in advance for any input on this. I know it is a petty issue that will probably be resolved along the way, as most things are, but figured maybe I was just being obtuse and missed something.

As a workaround add one enroute waypoint first. Then you can have an “enter route string” option. Edit your full route with coordinates and other waypoint. Not perfect, but works.

Appreciate the feedback! I think there is some room for this on a future update (probably low on the list for the devs) but you are correct in that there are workarounds. I have begun to branch out into utilities like Little NavMap, which is an amazing tool for free flight planning and other nice features.

With regard to NeoFly (which I still love as a driver to fly and practice skills learned through training (Navigraph Academy virtual PPL and IRL private pilot) I cheat with visual marker comparison on the VeoFly map and EFB map. I pick the closest airport to the location, then find unique terrain features to compare between NeoFly and the EFB to lock in a close position to the coordinates and click on the EFB map to add as a waypoint. Then I delete the nearest airport waypoint I added in the EFB.

I will try one with Little NavMap and see how it works with coordinates as waypoints, since I can export that flight plan and then load it in MSFS 2024 EFB. So not optimal, but there are solutions and they are probably more realistic, using an actual EFB flight planner tool rather than the built-in MSFS 2024 one.
