Unable to change the starting point and plane

This has been quite a ride, took me a month before I could even play this game, I had to wait first for them to fix the “unable to install in a user that uses a non english name” (as 90% of the world) and then the “Fly button does not work”, great…

And now I can not change the starting area and the plane, I mean, I can do that ONCE, I install the game, pick one plane and starting area, works great, now I want to pick another plane and another starting area, all seems fine in the planning phase, and I press Fly Now and… it’s the first plane and area that I picked before…

Only way to “fix” this is to reinstall the game (that has to be on th C: drive because the Xbox App refuses to install in any other of my other hard drives), I have to be honest here… I have never seen such a buggy release, and I played Fallout 4 on launch!

So I removed everything… again, installed the Xbox app, still does not allow my to install in the D: drive (oh, It let’s me pick the D: drive… and then it just installs in the C: drive… just unreal), and I am going for one last try.

I’m a programmer so my best bet is that the way Windows 10 does not let you access the files that are in your OWN computer is mostly screwing up with the file that is first saved when I press the “Fly Now”, it must somehow be locked into read-only and it will always load the very first flight that I picked after installing the game, my best bet is that the only way to fix this is to format my PC… in 2020…

I’m only even on here because my 70 year old dad just loves flight simulator, even got him the T.1600m H.O.T.A.S… for Flight Simulator X because It took me two months to be able to run this game and now I have to pick one plane and one starting area forever? Great…

I have one last option, just bite the bullet and pay the 70 € for this game on steam, all my issues so far are linked to that horrible Xbox App, but 70 € for this buggy of a game? Seriously guys? 70 €? And I can’t even use the refund feature on Steam if the game has the same issues because it takes me 2 hours just to download the game…

Several, yes, I downloaded a few of them, planes, the Japan Update and such, strangely enough, it started not “remembering” what I installed before, so it all ties into my theory that somehow the game just locked itself out.

Perhaps must be linked to the way I added a new SDD (for this game, the irony), but it seemed to work fine for the other Xbox app games, for the most part, that is, today is just went ballistic, I guess it must be all tied to Window 10 App system, the unable to install in another drive (even after selecting it), it’s funny, I pick my D: drive, and then my C: just loses 100Gb of free space, like that… so I am hoping that it’s that odd linkage that is screwing up the filesystem, now I just need to wait… around more 1.5 hours, I picked C: for the install, maybe it’s that, and if it is, oh my… the need to fix that Xbox App, even the Epic Games Launcher is not that bad, truth be told, it’s horrible but at least it lets you pick the drive to install.

I did that, ended up using the data that I already had from a previous instalation and just bumping the C: drive with more 90Gb of used space, like that, 90Gb on the C: drive in less than a minute and the previous D: folder still intact, they just somehow mirrored the folder in C: Steam does that when you install a game, it just marks the full install size and removes if from the free space and then downloads the game, the Xbox App decided to do that also… without actually installing anything (or transfering anything to the C: drive from the D:).

So, my guess is that the Xbox App is just broken in my PC, I am fine with that particular part, I still have 100Gb of space left in that drive, but the not being able to pick another plane and starting area / airport it the real issue here, 70 € is way too much, I might give up and format my PC.
