Do you have an antivirus program that could be blocking it?

i have AVG, but was running fine before…and suddenly not anymore …u think that antivirus coudl be an issue from now ? thanks

Hi, i can’t get it to run since mid june, even clean install of pc/win10 did not work. i am 100% convinced after trying on awful lot of things the problem is with ms/asobo not on the users side . I think we have to wait until ms/asobo understand it is their problem. Fiddling to much with all kind of pc setting only tends to make things worse.
Oww and i am sorry for you, because i know first hand how frustrating it is when things do not work as intended.

Follow the steps in this article;

Loading issues (stuck on loading screen, long loading times, stuck on black screen, etc…) – Microsoft Flight Simulator Support (zendesk.com)

Will probably help you as well @FlyingEd1959

Thanks…it will help a lot il Guess…gonna try that layer…

Make sure any overlocking is reduced and that you have no mods (just rename Community folder). As others have said also check what any 3rd party anti virus is doing. I dont used 3rd party so Im not familiar with AVG. No issues with WinDefender.

Probably not. There was a time last year when I was getting the black screen etc & it caused me a lot of trouble for a few days.
Turned out to be Microsoft’s own Defender! They have fixed that since though so it doesn’t block it anymore. Hopefully the other suggestions will solve your problem

Thx for trying to help, much appreciated!.
This “to do” list was already mailed to me by Zendesk after i send a report to them mid june
Did everything they suggested. At the end in a desperate attempt to get Msfs installed i even reinstalled my pc and win10 . I tried on two different desktop pc’s always with the same outcome CTD just after first scenery screen (castle pic) appears. It does not even go to download the content. It’s not my PC that is to blame Msfs ran perfectly well on it since aug 2020.

Sorry to hear that.

In 99% of the cases those can be solved by clearing out the community folder. Even a single livery can cause crashes on startup.

If your community folder is completely clear, and you’ve followed all the steps on that list, I can only recommend re-opening that ticket you had on Zendesk, or create a new one.

Sorry.

i removed a few liveries that i donwloaded today from my community folder…(everything was fine before), so as you said, it can cause the trouble we know…but unfortunately, still not working…i will let it go for a few days…thanks anyway to everyone for your help…i will try to find another solution in the next few days…happy flying to everyonte (when it works…)…cheers good luck

Hi, I did almost everyhting what was said in your link…
community folder empty, etc…still that ■■■■■■ black screen and no launching…
I think that i have no other choice here to delete and re-install the sim…
what do you think
Cheers

If you’re on the MS Store version you can still try to ‘repair’ the installation from the MS Store page.
‘Verify file integrity’ on Steam will re-install the game entirely.

Update system to the latest version via windows update.
Update gamingservicess app, xbox app via microsoft store app.

Add exclusions to: gamingservices.exe, gamingservicesNet.exe, flightsimulator.exe, root launcher folder and official folder.

If that doesn’t help - uninstall AV software via AVG Clear and reboot PC.
https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?l=en&urlname=Uninstall-AVG-software-Clear-Remover

After that go to windows defender settings and add exclusions to:

  • file gamingservices.exe
  • file gamingservicesNet.exe
    // default files location path

c:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Microsoft.GamingServices_2.54.22004.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe

thanks for all that…good catch, i have AVG on my comp…
i will re install now…will take one day or more, and will try again, and if not, will try all these links…
cheers a lot

You’re welcome.

in case you get again a black screen, please show us the message logged within the Windows Event Viewer. The most re-installs can be avoided if we know about the “error code”.

PS.: and yes,… all these “best-off” anti-vir-tools are often the reason for trouble

yep, i will reinstall today, it will take again XXX hours…but u say that the entivirud thing could be the reason for trouble…
my question is now…my AVG software (brand AVG) was installed and the sim was running fine…is it then possible that after a few days i got these problems because of my AVG antivirus suddenly ? even it was fine before ? and broke suddenly ? thanks

MODERATOR EDIT:
Helps me whenever I get black screen but see from the taskbar app,

Enable taskbar on desktop
Right-click enable Task Manager
Highlight Microsoft Flight Simulator
Press End Task in the menu
then Application Microsoft Flood Simulator can be started again!
