I was really happy. I was a bit stunned by the problem, being alone in it, thinking it was caused by the system, hardware, or both. When I opened SU3 and saw the smaller fonts on the splash screen, I was happy. I went to Settings >> Accessibility >> Minimum Font Size and confirmed it was 18. I think this issue may have been introduced in one of the SU4 Beta updates, where they increased the font on the splash screen with the justification that the font was too small for 4K monitors. There’s a release note about this; I’ll have to look it up. I may have mistakenly identified DSR as the culprit; it may have just alerted me to the problem and led me to go back to the settings, where I saw the minimum font size at 24. If that’s what happened, I apologize; it wasn’t intentional. Thank you very much.
I can confirm that I activated DSR - and still have that way, but do not use it in game. I did once but one of the early updates screwed it all up, i.e. it cut off the window at the monitor size width even though not all of the screen was visible. This left the right hand side of the screen black. So I went back to default monitor size. Yes I preferred the increased pixel depth on my monitor.
I should state that I haven’t tried it since.
This is the reason that I thought it might have a hand in the problem.
Now it’s worse, in SU4 version 1.6.21.0 my texts have become even larger, the minimum font size went from 24 to 26 (the maximum is 27), making some menus illegible. Is anyone else experiencing this same problem?
Wow, there is something weird happening there.
I just checked in beta 21 and it still shows as 18 for me. I really don’t have any more suggestions than I did before but I really would like to know what is causing it in case I end up catching that bug.
It’s really strange, I’m already losing functionality in some menus. I solved the problem using the “Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024: Interface Scale Option” mod from the Flightsim.to website. It reintroduces the “Interface Scale” option in MSFS 2024, which Asobo disabled in MSFS 2024. This option exists in MSFS 2020. The mod may cause some problems in the menus.
It is far from ideal but at least it’s a temporary work around measure until the team can look into it. Hopefully the Mod team can supply some info as to whether the team are investigating or not.
Personal comments:
In order to have the devs team investigate an issue it needs to be reproducible. At that point some users in that topic tried to reproduce without any success so I don’t think anyone is investigating on this.
@TurbidKitten502 : have you created a zendesk ticket as commented here ?: Unable to lower "Minimum Text Size" in User interface and fonts below 24 - #18 by DementedCorn327
Open ticket: Request #263397 Unable to lower “Minimum Text Size” in User interface and fonts below 26. Thank you.
Bear in mind, some third party aircraft will not display in the selection menu with the sizes reduced past the sim’s normal sizes when using this mod.
I noticed exactly that. Thank you very much.
The ticket was opened, but look what the Zendesk support team said: “Since the issue you’re experiencing is occurring within the Sim Update 4 Beta with the text size, we kindly ask that you report it directly on the official forums. The development team actively monitors all beta-related threads there and is gathering feedback and reports from users to help improve the update before its final release”.
Disappointing, but not unexpected.
Zendesk will not respond to issues that occur in a beta test.
It would need to be an official release before Zendesk can offer any help, as betas can change so much.
Exactly, sir. Thank you.
I also had the issue, but it seems to have gone away now, presumably with the latest beta build.
With one of the previous beta builds (unfortunately not sure which) my minimum text size increased to 24 and wouldn’t let me lower it. However, going back into the settings just now I was able to reset it back to 18.
I haven’t changed anything about my graphics settings in this time - just received newer beta builds.
I did initially wonder if it was something to do with the fact I have an ultrawide 1440p monitor (3560x1440) but as it’s fixed itself for me it’s difficult for me to test further.
I’m on Steam and haven’t received any updates today. I have version SU4 - 1.6.21.0 and the minimum font size I can get is 26. Thank you for reporting this.
Sorry, I meant the 1.6.21.0 build must’ve fixed it for me. Not a new one today ![]()
