I noticed the same problem - was stuck on ‘please wait’ and flashing 2 files ("…*184…and *185) - so I closed MSFS 2020 and restarted it and it finished the update - however I found (so far) the rudder on the Kingair 350 seems broken.
The tone-deafness on this issue is amazing. I can confirm similar issues and I tried the following fixes:
- No files in community folder
- TCP autotuning settings set
- Net Limiter to manage download bandwidth
- IPV6 OFF
Still loops … and there is no guidance on where these fspatch files are being downloaded so that you can delete them and try to resume.
I am going to request my $ be refunded, as these mandatory UNINSTALLABLE updates make it not possible for me to play this game even at the abysmal level of functionality it is at. Class action to follow if that does not happen.
Unbelievable.
Class action? Good luck with that. The vast majority of users have installed SU4 without issue. Kind of hard to blame the software.
“Class” = subset of users affected by an issue. Doesn’t mean all.
No, it doesn’t mean “all”. But it needs to be a significant number.
For me its an asobo_airport, LFPG to be specific - that is causing the issue. File 6?/214 or something like that. I am beyond trying to root around at this point.
Why significant ? If it doesn’t work for a user, shouldn’t they be entitled to a refund?
Unless you say, because the EULA says this software may not be fit for any purpose?
Installation really is a nightmare. I kept getting store errors and could not update. I uninstalled MSFS and then could not reinstall it because of store errors. In desperation I reinstalled Windows 10 Pro from scratch (from external media). I can now install from the store but installation keeps looping on fs-base-0.1.156.fspackage.002. It was looping on something else earlier. Shambles.
I think a refund then purchase on Steam may be the way forward
What I am saying is that you don’t appear to understand the requirement to file a class action. You may have an individual claim and it is your right to pursue that if you so choose. But you best have a good chunk of change stashed away because it will end up costing you more than what you paid for the product. The better option would be to search for other topics from people who are experiencing upgrade issues and look for possible solutions rather than making idle legal threats that will get you nowhere.
Been there done that. Better to find out how many people are in a similar boat. Give me my money back is all I am saying.
You must be new. Most software the update is optional and not mandatory. This is a software problem and another example of the honest person people paying the price because they have to use DRM to protect their software.
Looping for me again and I’ve set 3Mb in Netlimiter$
Tryng again…(It usually works at 3.5Mb)
Out of interest is everyone here using Win10 with 21H1 update? Ive just had a chat with MS support suggesting it is 21H1 update causing the problem.
I should have been more specific. It is the Aerosoft CRJ update that refuses to install. It got to decompressing and then looped back to 0%
I have the same download loop issue with the current update and have not installed Win10 21H1 yet.
Thanks for info
Just to add:
I had never had issues before when downloading MSFS.
I have issues with the “bigfiles” right now. The download never goes past 3 or 4% then resets (sometimes it doesn’t even reach 1%).
I tried to limit MTU, limit bandwidth (to 10MBit), tried a VPN, deactivated firewall, shut down other programs that interfere with my connection; all to no avail.
Community folder is backuped and empty.
Not that it helps you but I had download/patching loops too and pausing restarting eventually worked. I don’t know what changed. It’s strange just trying again got it done. Would hate to be on a slow connection, or metered… or having put time aside to play on patch day.
Same issue CRJ update just keeps looping back to start after decompressing
