Unreal Weather - Snow Cover

Saw the thread about snow cover when it’s snowing. Asobo can you allow us to adjust the snow level under live weather? As snow stays on the ground long after the storm is over it would be nice to adjust this as we fly into colder climates. This goes along way until seasons are figured out on your end.

You said UNREAL weather. The unreal weather mod, free, does just that. It has snow accumulation , and if you want more , you can adjust. I don’t bother with Asobo live weather anymore. It might be prettier, but it isn’t realistic.

Now we just need trees to be leafless during winter.

The question is does the accumulation stay after the storm. Like right now Minneapolis has snow on the ground and it’s sunny from a storm that past over a day before. With adjusting the accumulation under Live Weather I can add snow cover on the ground and not loose live winds and clouds. Until Asobo figures out how to have winter snow cover in northern areas during winter and flying south have none in the same season (like all versions of FS before this) let us have the ability to toggle ground snow cover with the slider as we fly from the south to Northern areas.

The answer is no, because metar reports don’t say how much snow is on the ground.
However, with unreal you can add and change levels while it is on and showing present metar.

The only issue is when a new metar updates, you would need to be change level again since the weather presets would change to fit new metar.

Tbh I don’t see how any live weather will show snow accumulation after, since they can only go by aviation weather reports. ASOBO does not have LIVE humans looking out their windows making the report s.

Disabling the annoying and very aggressive visual icing is possible with he help of Live METAR mod. MSFS has been unplayable here in the Nordics until I found this workaround.

I would like to adjust the ground snow level myself until Asobo get’s the weather regional in the winter like previous version of Flight Simulator. There’s a snow accumulation adjustment setting we can currently adjust ourselves under all conditions except for live weather we can adjust it. Even using Unreal Weather it would be nice for this setting to always be live. We can have adjust the winter look ourselves.

Actually, I think unreal weather has a bug, that might be able to be fixed. I wrote the developer. It seems that you can adjust the snow and other settings while using the mod, but only initially when the mod loads. Once the metar changes/refresshes , you won’t be able to.

The sliders will move but if you let go it returns to the normal that Unreal is using. I think this is a bug or something that might be able to be fixed because if you change out of unreal to “clearskies” and back to unreal while in the sim, the sliders will work once again, until a new metar refresh.

I am no programmer, but I can see it as something that can be fixed probably.

This is how it works:

  • When a transition is in effect, the sliders will move immediately, even if you try to adjust them. That’s the behavior that you’re describing.
  • Between the transitions, the adjusted slider values should stay, but only until a new METAR is received and those adjusted values are discarded.
  • If you prefer for a certain slider not to be affected by the mod, disable the corresponding feature in the mod’s settings. The mod then will not set that value, and the slider can be used freely.

Thanks!
