ISSUE DESCRIPTION
Description of the issue:
ATC seems to be a complete step back from MSFS2020 on approach. Approaches in GA flying with you don’t use a STAR come in way too late, often minutes from IAF, in MSFS2020 they come in way before so they can be setup with usable descent instructions. On a recent approach into GMMN I picked up it would ILS X 17R on the ATIS. Loaded into the G1000, was offered VOR DME unusably late, ATC didn’t even acknowledge a request for change to ILS X 17R. I had decided to fly what was needed to avoid an unusable descent already. ATC then told me to continue at 6000 feet until about 2 miles from airport where they handed me to the Tower, which then told me I was 2 miles out when I was actual .3 and on short final. Have never had this work in any usable way since I swapped over from MS202, a terrible step backwards and is unusable, you basically just have to fly the approaches and ignore ATC. I’m seriously considering going back to 2020 for any usable IFR practice.
