Unusual taxi sign

I was flying into several different airports and saw the following signs. As a real pilot, I have never seen any signs like this. Anybody have any idea what they are or where they came from. I suspect they are probably something I downloaded, but I don’t recall anything specific about runway or taxi signs.

That’s a missing texture. Could be a conflict with an add-on. I’d empty the community folder and check this airport again.

Yep, you’re missing textures or conflicting.

  1. Empty the Community folder and test
  2. If it’s a payware airport, download again / re-install

Also, are you using BlackSquare’s Real Taxi-Ways by chance?

Ok, thanks. That will be a starting point.

Ok, thanks for pointing me in the right direction. First, I emptied the Community folder, replaced some modified files I downloaded from Flightsim.to called taxiSignsTextures and Taxiway Markings with the original files (I saved copies of the originals), and unloaded REX_ real global airport textures. I was using BlackSquare’s Europe, Military, and US_BCDE_MSFS ver 1.2.0. Here’s the result:

Guess I need to go back to the drawing board.
Does MSFS have any way to check the files and replace or repair any corrupt or missing files? I don’t think I am missing anything, but maybe I inadvertently corrupted something by accident.

Forgot to mention the I did uninstall all the BlackSquare files.

Maybe you have addons in the Official folder. Could you start the sim in safe mode ?. For that test, once in the sim, kill the msfs.exe through Window task manager. Then restart the sim and you’ll have the safe mode option.

Interesting, thanks for the info. I’ll give it a try.

Ok, tried what you suggested and here is the result:

Not sure how to interpret this, and don’t really know what to do with it. I’ve eliminated every thing that I think could be causing the problem, but it just never goes away. I’m sure there’s a way to fix it, but I haven’t stumbled across it just yet.

Ok, this weird that even in safe mode you are having this issue. Which airport is on the screenshot ?

KLAF in Lafayette, IN. University of Purdue airport.

No addons or anything special. Just the stock airport.

Hello there

If it helps, I loaded up in the sim and here is what I saw:

All fine here, running SU15 Beta.

Cheers! :airplane:

No issue on my side at same airport. So you should have something left over that is conflicting with the base scenery. But if in safe mode it does not resolve the issue, I don’t know what else to try at that point. Let’s see if other users have better ideas…

I may have missed this, but @Cdrbuck3360, does this only happen at KLAF? Or at all airports?

Cheers!

Not sure what the SU15 Beta is, but that’s what it is supposed to look like. Basically it’s a training airport for the Purdue Aerospace Department. What it tells me is that I have something in my system that is either blocking or corrupting the actual files for the airport. Now the trick is to find out what is causing the problem, without having to reload the entire simulator. I have a lot of addons and I would rather stick rusty nails in my eye before I have to do that again. I can live with funny signs if I can’t figure it out. However, knowing that many people with a really in depth knowledge of the program will eventually come up with something to resolve my issue. It’s got to be in there somewhere.

Do you have the same issue at other airports ?

I don’t recall seeing it at other airports, but I’ll have to try something different just to make sure.

Sorry if I wasn’t clear, SU15 Beta is the currently version in testing. You can see more details in this category: Sim Update 15 Beta

It could be, but, that would have to mean that it affects all other airports too. Based on the picture of those taxiway signs, it looks like a 3rd Party addon of sorts.

Cheers! :airplane:

Just tried another airport, Indianapolis Executive KTYQ, and it has the same problem, so it looks like it’s not specific to KLAF but systemic.
