I guess you have left over folder(s) somewhere that is causing the conflict and even not disabled in safe mode.
Do you have the user manual ? there is a chapter about uninstalling. Have followed those instructions ?
Yes, there is a manual in the Blacksquare download. Yes, there is a chapter about uninstalling and I have carefully followed those instruction. Basically a standard uninstall. I also uninstalled using Revo Uninstaller Pro which removes all the key parts of the program as well as all the leftover parts in various parts of the registry files and other locations. Iāve uninstalled everything, downloaded and installed the most current version and I still only see pink checkerboards. I then uninstalled Blacksquare again, yet I still see nothing but pink checkerboards. Something is causing the problem, but I canāt find it. Iām now thinking about removing the taxi signs in the OneStore folder one at a time until I discover which one is causing the problem. Would be a lot easier if MSFS had some sort of diagnostic program that verified all the files in MSFS. Unfortunately, Iāve never heard of one.
Just to try something to get rid of the pink checkerboards at an airport, I tried removing all the taxi sign files from the OneStore directory, then restarted MSFS. To my surprise, the pink checkerboards remained regardless of having no taxi sign files in my Packages\Official\OneStore\fs-base\scenery\Global\Asobo_Props\TEXTURE directory. Now I have absolutely no idea where the sign files are stored that create the taxi sign files, let alone the pink checkerboards???
Would it be possible just to reinstall the basic MSFS files without screwing up the rest of the installation? All the basic for the airports should be located in the most basic install version and maybe that could fix my problem. Obviously I am the one who somehow probably inadvertently screwed up all the taxi signs, but it sure would be nice to get everything back to normal. Doesnāt affect the flying, but it sure messes up the airports.
The short answer is yes, but youād have to backup your entire packages folder first.
Then itās:
Uninstall.
Reinstate your packages.
Reinstall the sim (not a huge download).
If the installer asks you where to download the packages to, point it to the existing folder.
Ok, thanks for the advice. I have a pretty good size package folder, but I use the Addon Linker so I wouldnāt have to save the Community portion of the package as I could simply unload all the files. The Community and the Official portion are on an SSD so I could transfer the Official folder to another SSD without too much of a problem. However, I have the Standard, Deluxe, and the Premium Deluxe versions installed, so can I actually uninstall the Standard edition without affecting the other two editions or would I actually be uninstalling all the editions and have to reinstall all of them? Also, would I also have to download and reinstall all the Content files or are those buried in the Official folder? If so, that would be a very long and time consuming project for me. Could be a lot of work just to eliminate a goofy pink checkerboard.
Uninstalling the sim removes your whole packages folder, including the community folder. You have to back up the whole caboodle, I think. I donāt use Addon Linker so Iām happy to be corrected.
Actually got tired of screwing around with everything and finally stored all my community files in my Addon Linker folder and then deleted the Official folder in my Packages folder. I then reloaded the three MSFS programs and everything is back to normal with no pink checkerboards. Probably cleaned out a bunch of unnecessary files Iāve accumulated over the past year, but will have a bunch of files to download in my Content Manager. On the other hand, everything is looking good and working like a brand new program.
Thanks to those of you who offered suggestions as it was satisfying to realize how much help and knowledge is out there in the MSFS community if one only asks. Thanks folks, I really appreciated the help.
