Update 1.15.7.0 - Citation Longitude Oscillation with Auto Pilot

Come on Team… The Citation side to side Oscillation issues continues when using the Auto Pilot with update 1.15.7.0. As noted by others and many times before, when using the Citation Auto Pilot and selecting NAV Hold at a high altitude, the aircraft swings side to side. In a recent trip, this didn’t start happening till I hit the first waypoint, at which time the aircraft would not stop oscillating. If you turn off the Auto Pilot, the oscillation stops. If you leave the Auto Pilot on, and select Heading Hold vice NAV Hold, the Oscillation stops. The problem is with the NAV Hold!!! The plane will not stay level in this Auto Pilot function. What’s it going to take to get this problem fixed once and for all??? Tks, MIKE

Hey Mike,

On your next two flights, try and keep the speed always below red or red-stripe.

I am still suspecting we create damage to the trim that is causing the dutch-roll/oscillation. If there “is” damage we can’t see it but the plane is designed to react to the damage…

It’s still a theory on my part. You have to watch your speed in this bad boy because it goes up so fast. Hopefully, this will resolve it for you!

Mark, Thanks for the recommendation but ALWAYS keep the speed below the red or red-stripe. I also have set the plane’s settings to “No Damage”, but it keeps happening. I’ve been reporting the problem since the early versions. In one update, the problem was fixed, but returned again and continues. I now have over 200 hrs on the Citation Longitude. Funny thing… it works fine, straight and level, on AP with Heading Hold or no AP at all, just not AP with NAV hold. Regards, MIKE

I’m seeing the exact same thing Mike is seeing with this plane’s AP. I wholeheartedly agree that this problem needs correcting!

I have had the advise of Tech Alpha Insider to change the Flight model from FSX to MODERN. It works, the rudder problem disappeared.

Is the flight model stored by plane, or is it a global setting for all planes?

Global. Options menu.

How did your flight model get set to Legacy in the first place?

If not exact my reply, just let me know

You said above that you fixed your problem by changing the flight model from “FSX to Modern”. Modern is where it is supposed to be. Why was your flight model set to Legacy (FSX)? Did you set it to Legacy? If so, why?

I installed MSFS Premium Deluxe on august 2020. There were already FSX flight model set as default. Everything worked OK. Then, after some update the rudder problem started and I stopped use MSFS and turned to P3D and FSX. Just some time I verified MSFS if the rudder problem was eliminated. I never tried to use Modern flight model. The facility changing crash realism is very handy when various flying experiments I am doing. This, and similar, are included in other SIMs.

Crash realism (I think you mean damage settings) has nothing to do with Modern flight model. Ok, it was set that way (incorrectly) when you installed it. That’s weird and kind of surprising that Asobo would ship that way. My flight model was always set to Modern.

In my opinion the legacy mode is useful and it is worth enabling the Modern models also for FSX

No it’s not useful at all. There is no such thing as a FSX flight mode in MSFS.

Again, it’s a 100% definite no-go.

Please don’t spread false information.

Agreed. Legacy mode is only going to cause you future problems.
