Update Making Me Install Entire Sim Again

So I was having an issue when trying to install the sim update on Tuesday where I was getting an error message saying “Content Servers Unavailable, please check internet connection.” It forced me to sign in on XBOX Live and bring me to the “Press Any Key to Start” menu.

I finally figured out how to get past that this morning, but now the update is saying 67 GiB to install. This can’t be right. How do I fix this?

did you point it at the install location?

Point it at what install location?

If it helps, as usual, the first part led me to the MS Store to install. It completed there and then I had this issue when I launched the actual sim.

hmm i have no idea for the store version mines steam, but it may be similar

It depends on where you installed the full game the first time. Usually if you get logged out and log back in, the install directory gets reset, and points to a new location (or the default location) if this is different than where you installed it the first time, then the sim will try to redownload a whole new game.

Even if you’re logged in using the same account, if that random numbers behind the Microsoft.Flightsimulator folder gets generated into a new number, then it would generate a new folder name and thus no longer pointing it back to the old folder See if you can just browse and look if you can find the old folder location. Hopefully that would fix it.

I have no help. Pretty much same kind of issue. My game has never had problems. I fly for hours with no problems. But today it won’t stay running long enough to open a menu. Just crashes to desktop. So I went into steam and verified my files. All good. But when I started the sim this time is has me downloading 83.gb. And with my slow internet that’ll probably be a day or two.

Never never verify files through Steam. You just learned a very painful lesson. I’m sorry for your loss :frowning:

verifying in steam just checks the launcher, you need to point the sim to the install directory i.e d:/steam/steamapps/common/microsoftflightsimulator/externalpackages/
