I got a mandatory update when I started MSFS around 9:24 NYC Time. I however did not see any update notes for it. Was about 1 GB in Store and 5.1 GB in Flight Sim.
Check the #community:news-and-announcements category, which is usually where patch notes get posted. You are looking for notes for World Update 5 which was posted on Thursday/Friday.
You seem to be correct as my version matches World Update 5 but I have been flying everyday since Thursday and just got the update, really odd.
Your Store account might have been a little slow in getting the update. I had to manually update my Store listing by clicking the “…” menu and then selecting Downloads and Updates. It took a few seconds after clicking the “Get updates” button for MSFS to pop into the list and start the d/l process.
I shouldn’t complain as this version of Flight Sim is getting updated etc on a regular basis and we never had that with previous versions. We did get a couple service packs with FSX but nothing like this. I still say though FS98 and FS2000 were the most stable out of the box though.
FS9 had a memory leak, so FS9.1 was issued as a fix. After that, it was rock solid.
FS98 might have been good as long as Windows 98 was rebooted before use each time ![]()
I had very little issues with FS98, FS2000, FS2002 and FS2004… FSX on the other hand was pretty bad that I would give up flying for months at a time.
