Last time I had a problem, I just put a couple o zeros in front of the community folder and put in a new empty Community folder. Cycled the Sim through a couple of times. Then removed just reversed the Community folders and solved the problems. Some folks on the forums are doing this before installing any updates… worth a shot.
I always empty the Community folder pre update, ie cut and paste the contents to a ‘holding community items’ folder, leaving the Community folder empty, and then pasting items back in Community after installing update and rebooting PC. Sometimes maybe not needed but best to make sure.
Well as of this post, after the update. Using version 1.11.6 MSFS update. The Savage Carbon November 19 is working just fine for me. Flew up to 15,500 feet, then did speed runs down the canyons to the valley floor here in the Eastern Sierra Nevada Mts, and again had no issues. No crashes to desktop or anything like that. But I know others have had issues, just the nature of the beast I guess. Now knowing from experience, before updated FS2020 update, I did remove everything from the community folder first. I would think by now that should be standard operating procedure (SOP), for all of us desktop aviators flying FS 2020. My thoughts Cheers Dion Youtube: #dionm01
I also put an “x” in front of my Community folder, made a new Community folder that was empty and made sure it was that way before I updated. After the update, I ran FS2020 “nekkid”, so to speak, to make sure it was a valid install, and only then deleted the empty Community folder, and took the “x” off my old one, then all was back to normal. Didn’t do this the previous update, and paid the price of a reset and a complete new download. I had heard reports of many doing it one way or another to get an empty Community folder prior to update, and I’ve heard much more positive responses doing this than not. So, until proven wrong, I’ll do this for each and every upgrade.
Thanks guys for all the tips. I too have developed the same practice, change the community folder name before update. But CTD got me this time. Oh well…to work!
Got a pants cleaning experience myself this time as my computer just up and shut down at about the 4,8 gig point of install and restarted… definitely had to clean my shorts, but guess I got lucky and through the technology of the MSFS Install Manager, it picked up write were it left off! Everything, that I can tell anyway, is working just fine… Tested that Autopilot thing today and that was pretty Kool, can’t wait for the new update. If ya really want a good challenge, Bush League Legends has posted a new grass scenery, in France. It’s on then side of a mountain slope! Almost looks like a Ski Slope!
Well, they make good scenery, plus they have a nice airplane. In fact, here’s a clip of the Savage Carbon taking off from CAF4 (their scenery), climbing at 2000+fpm to land at a slightly smaller (and steeper) airstrip, then turning around to land using our STOL techniques. Love their a/c, but love Got Gravel’s a lot more.

Cool Vid, they are both good! Will have to check out that little mountain top spot on my next session!
@zukemania1988 That is one scary experience…glad things worked out though and you’re in the skies. Hope to join again soon

Always wanted to say this. Got my FS2020 up and running again, no more CTD’s! Cause was some file corruption caused by the latest update, somehow managed to spot it and fix it (do not ask me how…was a nightmare).
So…already hard at work finalizing v1.0.6. It’s got a shot again this weekend, maybe Saturday?
Been CTD testing for the last 2 hours just to be sure but it’s solid. Well done Asobo! Visiting some new US sites, including the airplane graveyard. Pretty awesome.
Just finished re-doing all the livery thumbnails too as the prop is now carbon. Wanted the thumbs to match.
well done good to be back
“Marge!”
“What Henry!”
“He’s back!”
“Who?”
“That chap who has gravel”
"Where?’
“In his driveway I guess!”
“Oh!”
There was a long pause.
“Henry!”
“What Marge!”
“Why didn’t someone tell me he had gone!”
“I did Marge. You just don’t listen. Turn your bl-dy hearing aid on!”
“Well, really!”, Marge sniffed.
There was another long silence.
“What happened?”
“I don’t know Marge!”, Henry replied irritably.
“He probably swotted a fly on his keyboard in the middle of the update!”, Marge suggested.
Henry nodded.
“Then it was munted!”, Marge added.

Final scope for v1.0.6 (coming this weekend). Testing at the moment; all development has been done:
- Autopilot. Is not really installed in the Savage of course, but if you want it, I did tweak it for a smooth ride and removed the pitch oscillation problem. You will need to manually turn it on though in a config file (one time only for each of my updates) as the autopilot unfortunately turns on by default if you start in the air. I fear that would confuse too many players. Hence…one manual action will be required if you want this feature. I will add a clear instruction to the release notes.
- Liveries. Rust Bucket added to the collection. Looking sharp. And rusty.
- Night VFR! Subtle cockpit lights as well as navigation and double strobe lights have been added. All angles of visibility are according to FAA regulations. Brighter landing lights have been installed too.
- Electrical Systems upgrade. Engine charges the battery properly now according to various RPM rates (5500 RPM charges much faster than idle). Power consumption of various systems is now also correct. No more flat avionics mid flight, but I would recommend turning of landing lights during normal flight. They should not be on then and consume a lot of electricity. It’s what you would do for real.
- Multiplayer Sunken Planes. Fixed.
- Propeller. Replaced the wooden propeller with carbon fiber for all planes except DDay liveries. Comes with a 3% increase in power as a carbon prop typically would give you when compared to wood.
- Flight model realism improvements. Especially the yaw and pitch axis have been improved (more “lose” and less “auto pilot”). You’ll need to work a bit harder now as you should in a taildragger. Warm up your happy feet and use that rudder. Flying certainly feels a bit more real and exciting! Do note however that Adverse Yaw is not yet simulated in FS2020 (not a single plane has this at the moment).
- Correct white arc added to the cockpit ASI. However, the “incorrect” arc that is painted on the glass is still there. Currently this is out of my control (I spent hours researching this silly little thing), waiting for a better SDK so I can replace the glass or gauge.
- Little things here and there.
Thanks to various people for helping to test or provide vital information to make something happen. Cheers!
Rolling On The Floor as always TG!
WELCOME BACK! So glad you didn’t have to reinstall everything. Write down to remember what you did, and maybe it can help us WHEN it happens again, lol.
Looking forward to the update when it comes out, and especially looking forward to the Idaho flight into the back country. Should be a blast!
joined the MSFS group flight discord group looks a good channel and looking forward to the Idaho flight
Can I respectfully suggest you run extensive testing, particularly on switches/functionality. You can read in other posts in the MSFS forums that a number of aircraft are ‘stuffed’ after latest update.
CTD’s galore.
It would be a shame if the GG SCC was bowled over by MSFS issues.
TG
Obviously not the version 6 but I’ve flown the latest SCC for a few hours after the Sim update and as yet not found any problems, if that helps
