Update: Savage Carbon - STOL Realism Mod (v2.10 / Dec 27, 2022)

Hey Gravel, I’ve got the sim running in VR. Everything loaded and installed nicely and is looking good on my Reverb G2.
I’m having an issue with the prop being distorted. Any ideas?

After fiddling around for what seems like an eternity, I got VR working on my G2 also. My God, I haven’t felt like this since I was actually flying. The immersion you feel, actually looking around the a/c like IRL is astounding! Can you tell it’s my first time in VR? I’m in the GRRAVEL, and it looks fantastic. Haven’t noticed a prob with the prop, but I haven’t shut it down and looked outside yet. Been too busy flying in the clouds, water skiing and landings and takeoffs. Might be a while before I shut it down and look at it, lol.

It looks like it was the Motion Projection in OpenXR that was the culprit. I turned it off and that fixed it. The prop mod made no difference for me.

This is just incredible in VR, I’m blown away!

I am interested by VR, what are your spec to be happy with G2 and the Savage Carbon?

Has anyone had issue with this plane after the update? It seems to fly great until I throttle down and try to throttle up again. Then it goes into violent dives and climbs that I’m unable to recover from.

No issues so far. Sounds more like your controller range is off (just a possibility). Suggest always to move your controller axis full in all directions first before flying, this way the sim detects the max deflection ranges.

I’ve had that problem before. Turns out I had more than 1 button assigned to the trim. When more than 1 is assigned to the same button, strange things happen. Go into Controls, it will show assigned, and look for any buttons assigned to more than one function. Delete the ones you don’t need, then try again.

Good point! If it’s a trim that’s off, can go to external view and look at your trim tab. It’ll be fully deflected.

Since I’ve only been flying the Savage Cub, I was curious if fuel tank selector and carb heat are modelled in other aircraft? Really the only items missing from this aircraft imo.

That is individual per plane. They are technically “not missing” from the Savage as it does not need them. The engine is injected, and the fuel simply flows from both tanks at the same time. Sometimes simple is just best, and helps keeping a true STOL plane lightweight.

Ok great thanks. I assumed there were fuel tank selectors like my PA18 and I like the old Cont and Lyco engines with carbs (out of habit). My flight instructor used to rip me for missing pulling the carb heat knob if I missed it by one second haha. Flying in the NorthWest means you better not miss carb heat or your day can go sideways quick.
All that said I’m loving the power of this engine/prop combo.

Ah…see where you’re coming from! Well if you want to pull an extra button…there is the choke…needed when it’s cold!

I downloaded the carbon craft but still cannot find a community folder even after more reading. Has anyone any other ideas.

Suggest to check out the forum on the topic of finding a community folder as this is a general MSFS query and not Savage Carbon related. You may already find an answer there  I suppose you already checked out my installation tips on finding the elusive community folder.
