What size and type of drive do you currently have? Sounds like it’s time for you to start thinking of replacing the drive or adding a new one. In the mean time here is something that could help:

  1. Uninstall and do a clean install. Even windows will slowly become bloated over time with updates and old files. A clean install once or twice a year will help you keep up with it to free space and maybe even make it run better.
  2. Remove unused content. Instructions here:

Without wishing to derail the OP’s important question, may I ask what typical sizes are World Updates and Sim Updates?

I have around 350 GB of space myself (with only the base game (97 GB) already installed).

I’m sensing this can be a memory hungry hobby…

Hi I have 1 Tera I must free some hard disk space

Only World updates and add-ons will increase the space of the game, and they are all optional, Sim updates will only update the already installed files.

A 100 GB sim update isn’t adding 100GB to your drive. While there’s definitely newer, bigger files, they’re overwriting stuff you already have for sim updates. Your installation may grow a bit, but it definitely won’t be by tsome gigantic amount.

Surely SU5 (or any other update) won’t be a 100 gb update?

Likely it won’t be anywhere near that big.

Thanks for the answer

Thanks for yuor answer, Dylen

Thanks appreciate, Dylen

Why derail ? It’s a relevant question here. Tomorrow it will be limited, that is a SU software update not a WU world update. I actually depends on how much of the kernel code was replaced.

When you fly regularly, you’ll get only one update at a time. Sometimes, when you have had CTD’s or account issues the disk status needs reinstall, MSFS will sometimes download everything (say 170GB unpacked, 100GB to download)

I haven’t seen 100GB updates yet.

For world updates, it varies. The Japan update 1 and the recent Nordic update 5 where both about 9GB total. The USA update was 15GB, the UK update was (for me) 26GB, the France/Netherlands/Belgium was 27GB. You can postpone part of the update - and clean some disk when needed - because the scenery bundles go into the Content Manager at first.

Recent updates have been smaller than they used to be.
