Need a bit of help or understanding. There have been two major updates. I am currently on the second but a weird thing is happening and it is upsetting to me. The patch was a little more than 12 gigs. I watched it download that amount and then it turns into a 68 gig download. It did this the last patch as well. It seems when my game patches it downloads and reinstalls the entire game! WTF? When your ISP charges you for every MB you download I’d really like an explanation of why my game wants to re-down load 68 gigs of data it shouldn’t need too!
If you are using Steam, do NOT validate the MSFS install as it will cause it to re-download the entire game.
I don’t know if this is related to your experience.
My version is direct from the MS Store. When it updates it doesn’t just update it over writes the entire game. So rather than just install the update it redoes it all. If it helps I am also running the premium edition. It takes it forever to update and just eats up data. From what I gather other people don’t seem to have this issue. Or perhaps it is the same for everyone I dunno. But 12 gigs rolling over into 64 more is crazy.
Just got through doing a complete reinstall myself since the latest patch caused all kinds of issues…
No Bing input , terrible graphics, a football and baseball field completely vanished in my hometown…
Marketplace was never available…
Bit the bullet and did the deed…
Jeezz what a pain, took all day to download from Microsoft due to constant drop outs and pauses, then another 3 hours to download my addons .Total install was129Gig…
Thankfully everything is back to normal and all is good thus far…
Well, I prepurchased the game and there were many issues at the time. I may have to kill it and reinstall. But it is so HUGE I don’t know if I want too. To be honest I have grown disappointed with FS2020. It seems to me all the detail focus went on Europe and the United states only got generic treatment.
There are multiple reports of downloads greater than 12GB. The common thread (not confirmed) appears to be that core files of the sim were either modified or perceived to have been modified since the original USA Update push, hence the installer is treating it as a repair situation. Why it thinks the files have been modified is unknown.
From what I understand, and I was bitten by it myself around the 1.10.11.0 timeframe. It looks like they’re having some syncing issues between the installer and the Xbox login app. For some people, it’s enough to log out of the Xbox app and log back in. For others (like me), it seems like the only way out of it in some cases is to log completely out of XBox and the marketplace, delete the game completely, don’t just use the programs to uninstall the game (that only deletes a small portion, but leaves the main game and some possibly some cache stuff). Delete the Xbox app. Then, reinstall the xbox app, log in to both the X-box app and the microsoft store, then reinstall the game, and that clears it up and allows the game to fully install.
But, don’t just follow my instructions, search for the help page in the FAQ that outlines the whole process exactly. I had to go through it a couple times, because, I knew to uninstall the game, I didn’t realize that you had to delete it in 3 places, (delete with program, the cache area in users\packages, and the game).
I think it rears its head in different ways, and maybe you don’t have to go through all of that, but I did, I got there through multiple attempts to fix the problem.
I tried to install update. First thing it did - complete uninstall of the FS, and then MS Store giving me an error when I tried to reinstall. WOW!
What a product! What can and shall we do?
That’s pretty much been debunked many times at this point. This has happened to people with 100% vanilla installs that don’t so much as have a single 3rd party livery installed. Others have all kinds of modded core files, don’t empty out their community folders, and don’t get the issue at all.
