Trying to find reviews online that include these two cards is hard to come across. I am mainly flying the Fenix and the PMDG.
I have just ordered a 5000x3d to swap out my 5800x as that is my best upgrade path for the CPU.
This has not arrived yet but I am wondering if once this is in my system then my gpu will be my limit. Currently I am always main thread limited even at cruise and get about 50fps 4k ultra and about 25-30 at major airports with lows of 20 ish. Gpu never gets above 70% utilization even lower in airports.
Basically will mt new CPU be my limit on the ground or will the 3080ti be the limit?
I have a 12700k and a 3080ti and running a WQHD monitor at ultra and im almost always limited by main thread. The times that I am GPU limited Im getting 60+ FPS.
Yes that’s my concern, I’m happy with my fps in the air just not on the ground, I just wonder if the new cpu will still be limit on the ground anyway. Don’t fancy getting a 4080 if it will make no difference where it actually counts .
Even though still mainthread limited with the 5800X3D you will stutter less on the ground as you do now. For the 4080 I would expect similar performance as is for your 3080 but if you use frame generation your fps should double (giving you considerably more leeway).
I came from a 5800x to 5800x3d and 2080-3080ti-4080…
The 4080 came first, usually from the 3080ti at ultra 4k volumetric clouds with fog my gpu usage with be around 90-100% depending on the location. On the 4080 its about 70-75%. But the framerate will still drop if you are in a heavy scenery area plus ai traffic like FSTL. 5800x3d almost solves that problem. And if you are open to frame generation then i am getting around 80fps (i capped at 80 fps as getting higher i cant notice it anymore) but there will be little annoyances from frame generation like ghosting if you are willing to trade.
