Upgrading after 7 years, new PC build advice

Hello Aviators,

In the light of SU14 and after just unpacking my MiniFCU, my PC has decided to fight its final battle. While it works and runs the sim fairly okay on quite mediocre graphics, running the Fenix or anything similar now leads to graphics card crashes.

For context, current rig runs on a 1060 6GB, I5 6500@3.2 with 16GB of RAM, built it myself back in January 2017 (!).

New rig is as follows : https://pcpartpicker.com/list/2FnrRK
Rig would cost around 2200 in my country (Netherlands). However, currently debating whether or not I should get the 4070 Ti instead, although I heard it’s not really great value for money.

Anyone any opinions on this build? Comments? Thanks!

Update: 4070Ti it is, makes more sense with FS2024

Yeah I think getting the Ti makes more sense, especially with FS2024 on the horizon now. Thanks for linking the thread!

Going with the 4070TI you will be pretty future proof!

Good advice on the VGA upgrade, it will perform wonderfully with 2k but may lag eventually with VR and 4k, some of the new VR sets are running over 12 million pixels already.

I would suggest a slightly larger PSU, while mathematically an 850w should be more than ample GamerNexxus seems to allude to spikes in draw exceeding claims and may as well future proof a little there too… unless cost prohibitive as always.

I’m not planning on jumping on the VR or 4K bandwagon, so 2K gaming will most likely be the standard for now. So getting a larger PSU makes more sense then? I thought being about 300W over should be relatively okay. How would I go about calculating this?

Thanks!

300 over should be fine I keep overestimating 40- series cards
