HI FellCoud996202;
Thanks for your input but again not sure what your settings are. My overall settings are all low (mostly) to high and I only have Clouds set to Untra since anything under Ultra looks like potatoes
Some settings are also off. To stay between 25-30 FPS I have to set my TLOD to under 100 and yes, maybe your processor does make a difference
.
Someone suggested maybe using FS Traffic (aircraft models) instead of the FSLTL since MS Traffic models are a little less taxing on resources.
Cheers.
Hey WSoap7018;
Thanks for the info since you did exactly what I am attempting to do and confirm what I was hoping to achieve. And yes I tried just about everything like you including making all possible changes to my Config file better performance and quality including running in a small window mode, DLSS enabled with different setting and still didn’t work including blurry displays.
Again, not expecting miracles and to solve everything just acceptable performance better settings than I have today which is mostly low and med settings.
Cheers.
I’m confused. For 40 years now, running in “windowed” mode as opposed to full screen has always been slower performance in my understanding. In windowed mode, Windows has to draw a whole lot more and performance suffers.
Running in full screen at a lower resolution can help, but, usually a card likes to run at the desired resolution of the monitor as otherwise it has to interpolate, and that costs cycles as well.
Am I just old and wrong now?
Basically you are right, full screen is faster than windowed at same resolution. A window with smaller resolution will be faster, because less pixels have to be rendered, z-buffered, textured, motion blurred, DoFed, antialiased, …

What’s interesting is; I have never seen any difference what so ever with FSX nor MSFS 2020 running Windowed or Fullscreen mode. I have tried it with all different settings and different Graphics Cards over the years and no difference in performance nor GPU or CPU usage. My Monitor is 2560X1440 @ 60Hz. So I just run it in windowed mode which makes it easy to access other apps.
Maybe on a different monitor I’ll see a difference as others have.
Cheers.

I think somebody else pointed out I’m wrong on this. Although I believe it did matter back in FSX, or maybe FS2004 days, but, somebody said when in full screen in MSFS, they’re still running in Windowed mode.
Apparently I’m old and need to get up to speed…

sigh
I don’t know if you are wrong. I was just stating that I have never seen a difference between Windowed and Full Screen mode both in FSX and MSFS2020.
I have seen others have but I haven’t.
Cheers
