Guys, does anyone uses an UPS device? I just plugged in some cheap one, under $100, it seems its not powerful enough, it starts to make some noice as soon as I run the game (bip, bip,…), it just can`t handle any more powerful game. Any suggestions?
Do you mean PSU?
no he means Universal Power Supply.
OP: I doubt you’ll get anything quality under $100. Consider upgrading your PSU (Power Supply Unit).
Start at 750w
Could be wrong, but I though it stood for “Uninteruptable Power Supply?” And, agree with the $100 is probably a pretty nasty one. The idea of one of these is to allow the user to have enough time to save their work and cleanly shut down their PC in the event of a power outage.
yeah youre right i think. Uninterruptible makes more sense
Hi @mitjabonca,
I also agree with @Portalearth420 that what you have is possibly not good for that price range.
I use this one:
Cyberpower CP1500PFCLCD
I didnt really check the power of the UPS, because I wasn`t even aware of the importance of it.
I just thought anything is ok, and the less power on UPS, the less time you can have the power on the PC. But I guess I got it wrong
Now I know I have to have at least the power combined with all the equipement I have plugged on. Thx guys.
I have a 1000w UPS for my setup. We experience power losses & spikes here once in a while.
APC UPS devices have been standard equipment to me for decades.
I’m currently running a APC BR1500MS.
If you have a generator backup you will want a Smart APC. Most UPS don’t charge off from dirty generator power. That or make sure you have in inverter generator
You can go to https://pcpartpicker.com/ and build a PC just like yours and see what capacity power supply you need.
Or just look at the different capacity (Watts) Power Supplies and their prices.
Would this be fine: APC Smart-UPS RT 1000VA 230V - APC Latvia
I can get it for 280€, its 60% discont
Can I ask, is there necessary that the UPS is lets say 30% more powerful then the concumption connected to it? Or can run on its max capability?
Specifically for this one, it says in can be used its 100% of power. But surely is better not to, right?
