So I don’t play this sim very often, but when the Xbox update came out the polish of this game went up, smart cam started working as you’d expect (Not locking onto an airport that’s over the horizon as the first target, etc.) and I thought things were moving in the right direction.
Tried the GOTY edition and smart cam seems to have gone back to the way it was before and now I can’t navigate the world map with my mouse if I’ve got a controller plugged in.
I’m not a hardcore simmer, I’m someone that wants a nice experience in the flight planner and to have fun flying a plan and looking at sights. The way things are at the moment, the experience is just frustrating and not fun.
Asobo! Please give this aspect of your sim some love.
Quality of life stuff is important. Here’s an off the top of my head list of niggles after you start your flight plan:
As soon as you start the “Fly” button doesn’t have the focus, so clicking “A” on the controller doesn’t do anything, you have use the cursor buttons first
Your destination airport is no longer marked in the world as an airport, so you can’t smart cam to it
If you’re flying towards a landmark, smart cam seems to default to an airport (Probably out of viewing range), you try cycling through smart cam targets and the thing your flying towards seems to only get on the target list when your within 1km or something
If you bring up the home menu on the controller, you don’t seems be able to return to the flight using the controller
All these niggles add up to a not fun experience IMO.
