Using Samsung UHD TV with Nvidia 3080 without damaging card?

Hi everyone,

I have a Samsung UN43RU7100 and a computer I’d like to connect that has an Nvidia 3080. (Not Ti)

The specs seem to say it’ll work, though I can’t find the refresh rate of the TV - and, I’m a bit skittish because I don’t know if there is any way, in normal operation, the card may be damaged by use with this TV.

The card seems pretty robust since it’s capable of running multiple monitors at once, but I don’t know if/how that equates to a TV.

Also asking because I had a 1080Ti connected to the tv, and the 1080Ti failed - and I don’t know if it’s related to using it with the TV.

Any insight appreciated.

Your 3080 will work with the sim and your TV just fine. The refresh rate of the TV will be 60Hz. If you run the sim with V-sync on your 3080 won’t go above 60 frames per second so as to avoid so called screen tearing.

The 3080 is designed to be a full 4K GPU so it’ll be happy outputting at 4K through your 60Hz TV.

Thanks - seems to be working well going out 4K to my monitor. I don’t plan on upping the resolution.
