Using SimBrief and IFR for the first time, confused by landing

Hi,

I’ve just learned how to use SimBrief to create a flight plan and subsequently program the MCDU in the a32x to do an IFR flight.

What I am confused about is landing. The Nav seems to take me to a point that’s 10-15 miles away from the airport. Is this because I need to use ILS to land?

Thanks.

I’m a nut shell, yes, it’s up to you to choose what approach you want to fly.

Yes. From the end point of your route there are usually STARs /Transitions to an ILS or RNSV approach. Sometimes only vectors by ATC. You hsve to check the approach charts of the airport to find out how to proceed from there.

As everyone else mentioned, yes that is normal. Even on visual approaches without any kind of STAR to lead you in, you need a longer distance to get lined up with the runway since you are travelling at faster speeds.
