VP-FBD on Carcass Island after our flight from Stanley
Did my first flight in the islander today. It’s fun to fly and i like that i can use it with the gtn 750.
The sound is in my opinion not 100% right compared to the islanders i heard from inside and outside.
It’s the perfect match to the Aerosoft east frisian Islands scenery
It’s not a study levels aircraft, but also not as simple like the Stock GA planes. Kind of in between. But i think it is perfect for the Bush Missions in Neofly
Worth getting. I had the same questions - is it different enough from the Twin Otter or for that matter the Caravan? The answer is a yes - feels very different even if the mission is similar. Much easier to manage the power and the aircraft in general. A casual jump-in-and-fly feel - which is true of the real airplane as well. The first release has all the little glitches people have posted about, but I’m having a lot more fun with it than with any of my other sim aircraft. In fact I’d say that I’m enjoying the sim a lot more since it came along.
At some point it’s going to have to fight with a DC-3 in my hangar but even then… different airplanes, different missions, even in the same stomping grounds.
Recommended.
yes…I’d agree with all that. The Twotter will be something else again. It is a superb a/c (at least for P3D - so will be again for MS. It is certainly a cut above the BN2, but in real life it is too…well worth the wait!
Don’t know if it’s an MSFS or islander bug. When i put increase and decrease prop rpm on Buttons on my throttle, they won’t move evenly.
Edit:
Found what was wrong. One of the Buttons was assigned twice, so the fault was between the Headphones
No Worries … thanks for posting … Investigation canned ![]()
Is there any change to modified the airspeed indicator to a more default Islander.
With a more linear scale? (Now the 40-60 range is much larger then the rest of the gauge)
While the range 40-80 is the most important (on approach)
Some shots of the most common ASI (i know there are much variation)

Also note the white line should end at 88 kts (max full flap speed)

V1.1 should fix it …
working on a big list of details
I am liking the look of the BN DEFENDER

(Padded cockpit is a welcome addition !! )
or, for an even “cleaner look”
but I’m Old School – Like some round gauges !!! but I would not be fussy !!
padded cockpit … Glass gauges… Turbine engines …
Yeah … Gimme a minute
I also notice two coloured indicators at the lower end of the scale. The red I can assume is stall speed , but what is the blue one, at around 65kts on the upper image? They are in the sim, but I’m not sure if the blue one is at the same speed, so I’d need to check. According to the POH I’m looking at on my iPad, that would be VY?
Actually, now I look at this POH again, both best angle as well as best rate of climb are 65kts.
This is the “everything” speed of the Islander. Climb, Approach.
Standby, have to look up a small description of this speed.
(Could not find the website/report i remembered, yet here the speeds):

I have had an absolute blast with the islander over the last few day’s, recreating flights in Papua New Guinea flown by the Missionary Bush Pilot. Some challenging flying but a blast. Really looking forward to V1.1.
I’m enjoying the plane, but it seems I’m getting regular CTDs with this plane, which is not so fun anymore. Anybody else with the same experience?
There are some threads either here, or in Avsim, re CTD’s possibly associated with MSFS & or the avionics. Carenado was mentioned too. Some people are turning off the VFR maps as a work around.
Also this:

For me the acceleration on Take Off seems to me a bit overdone. The times i flew in an islander it was not like ihr one in the Sim.
Also check your memory is not clogged up with spurious … I had a few CTD while trying to test, it had me running in circles recompiling everything until I realised All the sourious 3D Studi , Photoshop and other files
By lunchtime, please.
Thank you very much sir
