V2 UPDATE released! LATEST BN2 Islander available now from Blackbox Simulation

I’ll have another play, but as I intimated I adjusted the temperature up and down from -5C to about -20C. But it’s a fair point, and should be easily tested in dev. mode.

I’ll spawn somewhere in the C172, and establish conditions which cause it to ice over. I’ll then switch planes to the Islander. That should remove the weather itself from the equation.

should simply need 0 degrees C or Lower … then fly through cloud .
If it still doesnt ice up then try your settings … it may be disabled :slight_smile:

Okay, I’ll try that again, but I spent about 40 minutes flying through clouds from London to Cambridge, and no ice formed. I’ll try my test I mentioned earlier, and I shouldn’t even need to take off. Spawn in a C172, and establish low level cloud at the right temperature to cause ice to form. It accretes a lot slower now with SU4, so I may need to wait a few minutes for this to occur. Then switch to the Islander.

I found the reason why the plane is overloaded at spawn, in the “flight_model.cfg”. All stations are fully loaded.

station_load.0 =       140,   5.70,   0.93,  -2.30,   PILOT
station_load.1 =       140,   3.08,  -0.93,  -2.30,   ROW 1 Right
station_load.2 =       280,   2.03,   0.93,  -2.30,   ROW 2 Left
station_load.3 =       280,   2.03,  -0.93,  -2.30,   ROW 2 Right
station_load.4 =       280,   0.00,   0.93,  -2.30,   ROW 3 Left
station_load.5 =       280,   0.00,  -0.93,  -2.30,   ROW 3 Right
station_load.6 =       280,  -2.03,   0.93,  -2.30,   ROW 4 Left
station_load.7 =       280,  -2.03,  -0.93,  -2.30,   ROW 4 Right
station_load.8 =       400,  -4.50,   0.00,  -1.75,   BAGGAGE
station_load.9 =       400,  -5.70,   0.00,  -1.75,   BAGGAGE

Remember the curve they implemented for icing in this new Sim Update? I wonder how that affects it.

I was hoping this would be fixed in this release and we would get the three default positions like in every other plane “pilot view”, “landing view” and “pilot close view” :frowning: . Back to editing cameras.cfg again… I also had to figure one myself why the Islander CTD the sim when I use keys assigned to set up those 3 default views myself. The CFG file provided does not have UITitle= set up at all. This is the function in the cfg file that connects with the default view set up by the user. Anyway, it is an easy edit now that I figured it out. I guess I have to keep my own cfg file and overwrite the one that comes with the plane after each update.

Wow! Sometimes the small details are so big!

Thanks for the Cable Animation! I was totally not expecting it so quick, if at all. Imagine my surprise when I had to stare at it asking myself… “is that moving?” WELL…YES IT IS!

Love this plane! thank you!

I just realised the D-Pad camera view behaviour was fixed as well, must have overread that in the patch notes. Nice job.

It is not about D-pad. In the camera key assignment, you can assign keys to three default cockpit views to set them up as you want by just pressing one key to save them. These three cameras are default pilot view (PILOT VFR), landing view (PILOT LANDING) and close-up view (PILOT IFR). I play on a 38" ultrawide monitor, so usually, the default views are not optimal for me so I use those key bindings to set up my own cameras. Unfortunately, their functionality in the Islander is disabled in the cfg file for some reason and a close-up view is not available at all.

I also have a question here about the passenger weight. Now it is set up per passenger but the default weight is 127kg (280 lbs.) per passenger. Also the default weight of the cargo is almost 200kg (400 lbs.). Hmmmm Is there any way to change that in cfg so I do not have to set it up manually before each flight?

The plane still looks ugly. Not because it is not beautiful, but because the developer turned out to be greedy for polygons for the model and cockpit.

After the update the ‘co-pilot’ figure now seems to be tied to the Pilot weight in the payload manager. Thought I should mention that. I set zero weight in what I would have assumed was her position but she stayed put, I emptied out every passenger position but she remined, so last one left I put 0 weight in the pilot position and she vanished. Would be good to have her tied to the row 2 right seat as that is where she is sitting :wink:
Small little nit-pick on what is a great update :smiley: Thanks for all the hard work mate, really enjoying this bird and the update has brought even more to it!

So great to have a developer who cares and have a patch ready so fast. Really impressed. Also that most things which were named from the community where addressed.
Like the plane alot and it’s just a perfect fit to neofly bush missions.

I just hope for sounds when using the switches and for me everything will be perfect :+1:

Yes, edit those values in the flight_model.cfg. I listed the current defaults a few posts up. Default is at 111%, and way overloaded.

Is it me or do I not remember this aircraft having an ILS GS indicator on the NAV1 display ?

(The lateral indicator seems off too Nav1 and Nav2)

I have not receive the email for updating the aircraft and on BBS

Hello,
I have not receive email for updating the aircraft and on BBS website there is no link for downloading the update. What is the procedure for downloading this update ?..
Many thanks for your info

Spawned at ENBR in a 172 , and turned on the Snow pre-set. Temperature was -5C on the ground, to -7C at pattern altitude.

Got no icing on the ground ,even on the 172, but after take-off, and a quick circuit it looked like this:

Now to test with the Islander.

We cannot help you on here as there is no client information … Please PM Me with your real name / email and I will be able to investigate

The Usual suspect though is to always check the SPAM Folder first

and as it used the exact same system as the Default ASOBO Aircraft you should see the same result
