Anybody know how to get the props to feather? I see it’s enabled in engines.cfg but this is as far back as I can drag the lever/move the lever with my keybinds. Don’t seem to get any visual effect from the prop or change in the flight dynamics that would indicate feathering is occurring at this detent.
Until the Mother Sim and SDK Work as suggested there is No Feathering Sorry
we want it as much as you do but until its possible … we must wait
Regarding the 1.3 Scalar … This is also applied to a pretty unworkable engine model due to required operation not being possible … it is a compromise and will be put right as time and information allows
( I do get tired of saying this … Thanks again SDK )
I’ve done some brief testing with the scalar at 1.1 and found the plane tolerable, perhaps still overpowered even. But it wasn’t comprehensive testing. Also had some issues with the engines quitting at idle until I set idle_rpm_friction_scalar = 0.9 (as I mentioned above we had similar problems with 6 cylinder engines on the G36 Project).
I’m not a developer by any means but I agree that the SDK is abysmal–even complete documentation would be a big help to tweakers like me but they simply won’t do it.
Edit 2: and I appreciate your communication and engagement on this forum! It’s nice to have two-way communication on stuff like this.
@NightMercury358 I just bought this aircraft from your website. After reading your frequent interactions and seeing your efforts to improve your products on this forum, you earned my business. I am having a blast with the aircraft so far!
After 4 weeks of beta testing I finally get to hop back in my favorite airplane in the next day or so. I’ve had fun flying the Baron during testing, but I miss my Islander. And I am pretty sure feathering will be with us soon.
It’s not anymore; it got fixed in SU4 I think. It was still defined as a 550 cubic inch engine but with four massive cylinders. We wrestled with it for a while but ended up leaving it as a 4 in favor of getting actual performance right in a timely manner. And Asobo fixed the tendency for the engine to quit at idle the same way I did, by lowering the idle rpm friction scalar. I believe the sim’s basic piston engine modeling is pretty messed up.
