Hey Dave.
I have many years of VR experience and owned over a dozen headsets.
I want to address the issue of the tiny sweet spot.
This is something that while, yes the “sweet spot” isnt HUGE, I think what folks are looking for doesnt really exist and a lot of times they are trying to do something that isnt realistic.
When you are driving your car IRL, and you are looking forward, you can see in your peripheral vision a white truck, next to you. You might even be able to tell what type it is, but you wont be able to read the emblem, the license plate or see who is driving it.
Your sweet spot is pretty small and right in front of you.
I see many people say they look right and its blurry and only clear in the center.
Yes, correct, as it is in real life. When I need to see the truck to my right, I have the ability to TURN my eyes while my head looks forward and see.
This doesnt exist quite yet in VR the way it does in real life and in VR, we need to TURN our head and look and that would bring the quickest solution to the problem of "small sweet spot’. Idk, but its kind of that simple and if you do it that way you will enjoy the hardware and VR experience for what it is. I turn my head where I want to look and everything is crystal clear for me all the time.
How does the aero compare? Its really the king of clarity. I love it. I had it on loan from Varjo for 8 months, and nothing compared to that clarity. Fitment was comfortable and honestly, just a great VR headset top of the line experience when it comes to clarity.
It is not perfect though, be aware it lacks decent audio / mic solution which can be resolved easily and requires base station for tracking.
But I have had a few friends, one who is a real life AA Captain, who upgraded to it and uses it for MSFS and DCS and can NOT go back.
At the risk of getting flagged lol, check out my initial review of the headset here.
