Question regarding VATSIM and MSFS Integration. I have downloaded and successfully logged into VATSIM using MSFS using the client vPilot. It worked well! My problem is that I have yet to connect when ATC on VATSIM is present. I am not sure how this will work with MSFS ATC and VATSIM ATC. Do I need to turn off MSFS ATC or can I leave it running and use it when VATSIM is not online? Let’s say I start at an airport in which there is no ATC on VATSIM present and let’s say I use the built in AI ATC and then I am flying and I get into an airspace in which there is an online VATSIM ATC would the AI ATC on the simulator allow me to connect and use the VATSIM one? I guess I am confused on the integration of the two ATC. Does anyone know what to do in this situation?
well I turned the AI ATC completely off. Also because is not very good in my opinion.
When flying on Vatsim you should not use the AI ATC in my opinion since when flying without an online ATC on Vatsim you should monitor the UNICOM frequency. Also in germany there is a rule when flying vfr you can turn dedicated vfr frequency to communicate with vfr traffic. And I think when turning on both, the AI ATC could interfere with vatsim frequencies or you hear both at the same time.
Don’t run ATC, just use it if you want pushback.
If no one is online on Vatsim, monitor the Unicom frequency (121.800) or (122.800) can’t remember which one is it. But, once you see Center online and if you’re inside his airspace you need to contact him.
The AI ATC is one of the worst features of MSFS 2020. I’m planning on giving up on it entirely. Like others on this thread, I highly recommend you to stop using it totally. Do what @FlyingFinus and @Camargo24 suggested, and for the rest you are better off imagining an ATC in your head and use that. I’d rather use an imaginary ATC and have it give me instructions rather than use the AI ATC
Oh… okay. Got it. It’s been a decade since I’ve messed with VATSIM. Maybe I’ll get back to it at some point, but many of my flights at this point in time are VFR, so no real need. I turn ATC off most of the time…
Do everyone a favor on Vatsim. Do a little reading about Vatsim, and how it works (their website has all you need), before jumping in and trying to fly there
I would strongly recommend that for the 1st few connection, you just park at a busy Airport, and Listen on the various frequencies.
Vatsim is NOT like the free for all on MSFS Multiplayer.
Enjoy Vatsim, but remember your actions there will affect others.
On MSFS, in general, nobody seems to care … and that’s great as well if that is what you are looking for,
