Hi there, What do I need to know before I delve into VATSIM…I apologize if this is a stupid question and what software do I need to get? Any information is greatly appreciated. TIA
There really isn’t that much to it.
You would signup on their website, I can’t recall but believe you have to complete a simple orientation test / exam.
You would download the vPilot Client which gets you on the network.
You need to adjust your traffic settings (Turn AI off, turn static planes off, etc…).
Never spawn on a runway, always at a gate.
Then just learn the lingo, if you have experience with Pilot2ATC, etc… Then that translates well.
For myself, I went through VATSTAR who are a partner of VATSIM. They do free online training (written exams, etc…) as well as online orientation sessions in controlled environments to help ease you into it.
