This isn’t good enough! Get a grip of your system!
100gb download just because of a file integrity check on steam because for no reason my x52pro stopped working - which it seems, many others have had the same problem. Why do i get the feeling we’re just in one of your dev cycle loops? This was released a year before it was ready. Premium backer here - that’s a lot of money. If I buy a ferrari, I don;t expect to be in and out of the garage every day with issues.
FIX - BUILD - GROW in that order.
I would suggest you start not with the plethora of crappy coding you have but with the simple things that are just killing this otherwise great product. Forcing a 100gb download when it absolutely is not required is one. ‘Dumping’ peripherals is another. And before the fanbois turn up (I was a tech alpha - back off) just spend five minutes on steam or here to see that this issue is really pissing people off.
To be fair I think the issue is with Steam concerning file integrity checks. To the best of my knowledge, Steam has a record of file versions that it checks against, and those file versions may not be up to the latest or last few patches of any game. It will attempt to set you back to what it has as a last known working configuration. After which, you may be required to update to patches again.
That’s pretty much a given with steam file integrity checks.
I’ve had this happen to me twice now. Was having issues with FS2020 so verified Steam files to make sure problem wasn’t on that end, but ended up clearing out “Official” folder. First time I didn’t realize Steam had done that but second time I definitely knew Steam did it. So DON"T verify Steam files unless you want to re-download program.
So has been posted about on these forums a dozen times. What you download from Steam is a very small amount of data, in effect just the MSFS downloader. It then downloads the rest of the sim. When you verify it on a Stewm, it reverts it back to what was downloaded for the Valve servers, not the MS ones.
A search of the forums would have yielded that information. Never verify the sim on Steam.
PTSims I undertand your frustration, many of us have found out the hard way and had to redownload the whole game. But to hobanagerik’s credit, it has been posted about many, many times. Deal with it and move on.
