The sound the sound the sound - I it is not that important with an brand new bird!!! Had a few flights VFR and IFR for in total 5 hours and like it more than the most Asobo birds.
Hello everyone,

Since the DEVs seem to be reading here: There is an issue with the back door, when opened. Window stays in place and how to I close the door again?
They’ve mentioned on their forums that they’re aware of this one and they plan to have that fixed.
I saw a video clip and it looked like the engine guage on the external hud is broken. It had all zeros on the scale and the needle was full right whether the engine was idling or full thrust.
Adding to the offensively loud sounds,no glass in Windows or instruments and the low poly modeling especially visible on some dials, the wheels and the windows it’s pretty bleak.
Ah, yes. As if there weren’t enough threads about the Twin Otter release already…
I am a YouTube MSFS airplane reviewer (sometimes) but I’m also an ATP rated professional pilot. If an airplane needs work, I’ll say it just as I did in this video. The airplane was given to me, but that did not deter me from calling it like it is. Here is my review: Aerosoft Twin Otter Review by a Professional Pilot - YouTube
Great Video & accurate review. Thank you.
Why release early - only Aerosoft can answer that one, but after many many months of sinking vast amounts of money & resources into the Twotter Project, I can understand why the earliest possible release might be a consideration.
However, the current issues with the Otter would NOT have stopped me buying the plane, as a Twin Otter was what I wanted – even if I had seen your video and warnings – those issues should be readily fixable, and the plane is still Flyable, despite the issues, and there is a lot can still be learnt about flying the Otter, while Aerosoft fixes those few issues.
I am so glad you posted this, and it absolutely vindicates exactly the things I and others have been saying both good and bad.
Not only this, But I also noticed the ILS issues.
Thank you for being honest and for the well balanced review!
Your review was the first I had heard of the electrical system not showing a change in load when toggling various things on/off, as one of the things AS was boasting about was the realistic battery capacity, the way the lights dim when cranking, etc.
Have you brought that up to them?
He is a Reviewer, not necessarily a Volunteer beta tester, with a requirement to report his findings to Asobo/MS – most of which feedback “appear” to fall on deaf ears in any case,.
Aye, that’ll be right.
Having problems with IAS hold. The IAS to begin with does not light up to validate that it is engaged. When pressed speed does not hold. Hope there is going to be a patch for this??
BW
Not modelled in the aircraft unfortunately, mind you judging by the rest of the autopilot is wouldn’t work anyway so no great loss.
Me too the IAS does not work.
BW
No, Aerosoft re: the electrical problems.
And agreed on not being beta testers, but that’s simply how it is these days. If we don’t report it, it won’t get fixed.
Lately? It has always been that way. Remember the good old game SiN? That was back in 1998. It was in such a bad shape on release (I guess they wanted to get their game out ahead of Half-Life) that I actually wrote a post card to the developer and they sent me a CD with the patch.
And that’s just one case I remember very vividly. Broken games were always a thing.
EDIT:
Still have it too. ![]()
Did you install the PMS50 GNS530 mod as advised by Aerosoft? I’m not sure if it makes the difference, but I was able to do 2 full IFR AP controlled flights tonight including ascents / descents with V/S at 1k ft / min and an ILS approach no problem, and I’m a relative novice with this AP & GPS unit. Re V/S you have to ‘Arm’ the target altitude and then turn to the V/S mode and select a rate, and this worked perfectly for me. Maybe it’s the mod or maybe it it’s fine by default too, I’d have to try again with the unmodded version.
I’ll give it a try with the mod, but it shouldn’t affect pitch behaviour I wouldn’t have thought
But in the Asobo KAP140, there is NO CODE behind the ALT ARM button !!
It does Nothing apart from animate.
ie the Asobo KAP140 was never fully completed to simulate a real world KAP140
