I’m getting constant stutters and what feels like less than 1 fps with a PC that exceeds recommended spec. Is there anything obvious here? The game is installed on an SSD that is separate from the OS drive. Rolling cache at 32 gigs on the same drive. Latest drivers installed. Windows is build 18362.
Edit: Partially solved. Try moving or recreating your rolling cache on a drive that tests out good. It was working for me at 16 GB on the same drive I had the game installed on (WD Blue SSD 500 GB with 90 GB free) after deleting and relocating the cache from my system drive to the SSD where my game is installed. It probably doesn’t matter where as long as the SSD isn’t wonky.
It’s a GTX 970. The settings are the lowest in-game. It’s only 1080p. I’m updating Windows right now, I guess it must be something unusual. Processor is an i5 4670k at 4.2 Ghz. The hardware shouldn’t be an issue.
Hello. To view an actual representation of your FPS, open the windows game bar with win + g.
Also, what setting are you running? Ultra probably won’t perform as you’d like on recommended specs. Be sure you don’t have some crazy super sampling style settings enabled.
I’ll get back to you… It was on minimum settings in-game. Will update Windows 10 and see if it resolves itself. Please leave the thread up in case someone else has a similar issue. Thanks.
Hi, try to lower the scaling, there is a scale setting which is default 100%, turn it down to 80% or so. I learnt that during the Alpha and it helped me a lot with my old GTX 980.
I figured it out. It’s the crappy Samsung 840 EVO SSD that’s my system drive which causes problems. I had to empty it out so it can use most of itself as scratch space to prevent corruption because of the shoddy NAND they used. If it gets too full it seizes up.
Too bad there are probably some UWP shenanigans too because most of the programs I run off of other drives don’t run into the same issue. I notice the game thinks it’s running off the C:\ drive regardless of where you actually have it because the update directory it gave me during installation was some Windows app temp directory even though I tried to keep it off my system drive specifically. Maybe the Steam version won’t run into the same problem.
I encountered the same issue and had also noticed the program always runs off system drive… I’m attempting a re-install, did you solve the issue by installing MSFS in your C drive ?
I’m running into the EXACT same issue! i5-6500, RTX 2060, 16 GB RAM, and I’m running it off of a SSD that’s not my C drive. I get crazy micro stuttering, and anywhere from 1-20 fps when I was getting wayyy better performance in the alpha/beta.
I had pretty good performance in the preview. It was very playable in the preview, I was flying in between the buildings in San Francisco with bad weather and I remember thinking “wow it’s so smooth!” But now it is literally unplayable because my fps will drop to 5ish and stay there. I have the main game on my 240 GB samsung SSD with 133 gb free, and a 32 gb rolling cache on a separate disc drive.
I’m running mine on High, but even dropping to medium/low seems to have absolutely no impact whatsoever - I still get crappy frames and stuttering no matter what.
It’s spotty. Sometimes it will “load in” and be smooth >30 fps but when it starts off it is very stuttery. I am still working at it but it’s pretty frustrating given the load times as well. I wonder if the Steam version would be any different without all the UWP stuff.
Yeah that was the same with me dropping from medium to minimum settings. I don’t see any disk activity either the CPU is just at straight 100% all day my GPU is actually around 30-40%. Something is bottlenecking it.
