Description of the issue:
The performance in general, but especially VR-performance have - compared to 2020 - decreased in such a way that 2024 is unplayable with decent settings in VR. Even with the lowest settings and low render scale (50) in the Pimax Play software I still only get about 30 fps at a handcrafted airport with a default airplane - Cessna 208.
I use TAA to keep readable and non-ghosting instruments, so DLSS and FSR are not being used.
[PC Only] Did you remove all your community mods/add-ons? If yes, are you still experiencing the issue?
Yes. Tested both with 2020 and 2024 by removing all community addons. 2024 has significantly worse FPS than 2020. While the same scenario and “better graphics settings” in 2020 gives around 60-70 fps with default aircraft in VR, 2024 results in around 20-35 fps.
Placing the addons back into the community folder does nothing unless I choose a 3rd party aircraft/scenery which the fps really becomes unbearable. It is to be expected that there is a decrease in performance when using 3rd party addons, so the reduction when using them in-game is not an issue.
Removing all addons within the community folder does nothing to the fps either in VR or flatscreen.
FREQUENCY OF ISSUE
100% of the time. The FPS refuses to exceed 35 fps, but mainly stay between 20-35 depending on scenery and aircraft used.
REPRODUCTION STEPS
- Just start a flight and enter VR-mode.
