Very unusual ground performance despite a displayed 60+ FPS

Recently after tinkering around with my settings (I have a 3090), I found that higher FPS really doesn’t guarantee smoothness/fluidity in this sim. I was able to find even at 60 FPS that stutters and jaggy edged tearing behaviour when panning around a cockpit view sat at the gate for example.
You can minimise this with VSYNC, but lose FPS by doing so.

So what did I find. Well this sim seems to find smoothness & fluidity when operating at multiples of monitor refresh rate.
So think TV/monitor refresh of

  • 60Hz : FPS fluidity seen at 30FPS, 60FPS
  • 120Hz : fluidity/smoothness seen at 40FPS, 60FPS, 120FPS

etc. It seems to make a big difference. I have my setting at 120Hz (TV rr) and locked at 60FPS (in NVCP) and VSYNC set to OFF and even though I don’t see 60FPS all the time I still get smoothness & fluidity. Also very fluid when locked at 40FPS.
