When I first used the game I was able to open the VFR Map by pressing V but since then I cannot open it and have tried everything including reinstalling FS2020.
Am I doing something wrong or is it a bug?

I get this too, it seems like my whole keyboard stops working when I mess up camera modes.
The best advice I can give you, try to set the camera mode back to one of the default cockpit or external views, then try the “V” key. That has been working for me.
I have checked again and tried everything to get VRF map to work.
I can see the VFR MAP icon change when I press the V Key so the map must be hidden but I cannot see how to change visible layers. So ■■■■■■ off I will never buy a Microsoft game again.
Anyone know how to switch layers? I have reinstalled the game and still unable to fix plus checked all the setting etc.
I am actually having this same issue now. The map has been working since day one but now it is gone and I cannot get it back. Any ideas?

If you have more than one monitor, make sure that the mouse cursor is over the flight simulator monitor. I found that all controls fail to work when the mouse moves of the flight monitor. For a while I thought my controls were not working.
I just managed to make my VFR map re-appear, after it had been hidden for a while, and wasn’t showing in external view.
While in cockpit view, I hit ‘v’, then scrolled the mouse wheel while hovering over the cockpit VFR monitor. The pop-out VR map showed back up! Hope this helps someone else.

Where is the reset panels option located?
It is under the gear icon on the top when you are in cockpit view. Where you select what panels you want to see.
