I know this has been covered several times but how do I assign hat keys on my joystick to look around? Able to look around is especially important when flying VFR circuits - I do not presently have any head tracking hardware and would like to use my hat key on my joystick.
Any suggestions?
Here’s the panning bindings I use with my Alpha yoke’s hat switch:

Personal choice but for the external camera I prefer to use exactly the opposite bindings, toggling between external and cockpit while panning feels so much more natural that way
Very good thanks - I will try this later!

Yeah for outside views I don’t mind using mouse, However inside when flying manually I find it rather impractical to use mouse as well as joystick at same time.
I think at some point I will invest into some form of head tracking hardware - Maybe on MSFS 2024!
Just get a webcam and save some money by using a free / cheap solution
There’s probably a problem if you want to map a trim switch as well since usually a joystick only has one hat switch. So I ended up dropping views in favor of pitch/rudder trim.
For me - I have assigned two buttons next to hat switch for pitch trim. They are located in strategic location making them favourable - one switch up, the other one underneath so as a result top one for pitch down trim and bottom one for pitch up trim.
Rudder trim on the other hand - I left it with default setting as this is rarely used.
