Hello!
I can’t believe I’m making a topic on this after the issue was solved simply by using the “Modern” flight model available in the menus… But hey, unfortunately, here we are again.
Recently, in the MD82, and just minutes ago in the CRJ-700, on approach to different airports in mild wind conditions, I have experienced a level of aircraft upset that nearly slammed me into the ground. Specifically: On final approach, specifically when passing under 175kts, I will get violent left and right aileron roll. I’m talking almost 90 degrees left and right, and sometimes, nearly all the way inverted, I just barely managed to get my plane on the ground both times.
I have all assists turned off, absolutely no fuel imbalance, and the wind, while I don’t think is a plausible explanation as is, was at less than 4kts headwind both occasions.
To clarify: when I say violent rolls, I mean violent. I’m talking wing level to 85 degrees left in less than a second. I attempted to counteract, and in some cases, the aircraft would “hang” in that 85 degree position, even with full counteracting aileron and rudder, and then violently swing in that direction several seconds later.
I’m stumped, I haven’t added any liveries to either of these planes recently, as in, in the last 2 months, and neither have had updates to them that would’ve made a livery file do this.
The last time I had this happen as consistently as it has recently was in 2020, after the initial sim released. I don’t understand why it suddenly started happening after the sim was updated, as none of my settings have lapsed or changed in any way, flight model is the same ect.
And no, it isn’t an issue in my flight controls either, its a basically brand new honeycomb system and flew just fine before the update. There are no twitches or jumps in the calibration, nothing is happening hardware-wise that would typically cause this.
Any help would be appreciated,
Thanks.
